Rune Shifters mainly rely on the mana in their environment to shift forms. If they are bound, their form is dependent on the rune and the mana of the one they are bound to.

They are found in forests, deserts, the oceans, and the mountains in above the clouds. These areas are not frequented by sentient species(Humans, orcs, elves, etc.)

These creatures feed off of the emotions of the one they are bound to via mana from their rune. Most are tame in nature and avoid sentient contact unless their Partner verbalizes otherwise. If they are exposed to strong negative emotions, they are able to enter a berserk state where they can become uncontrollable and even detrimental to their well-being.
