Soddorrah
- The Circus Tent
It is not politically involved and the Mayor just ensures the town is functioning. He also decides where the town will go next.
Overview
The sounds of hundreds of people gathering outside of a city draw many onlookers, that watch as a kaleidoscopic town unfurls before their eyes over the course of a day. That evening, the city is nearly emptied out. Children drag their parents by their hands, tempted by the smells of sugary treats. Teenagers stroll through the gates hand-in-hand with lovers, a boy buying his boyfriend a bag of candied nuts to eat as they watch the acrobats. Old actors regain a youthful spark as they watch talented performers enact the scenes they knew as a youth, mouthing the words to soliloquies subconsciously. Even those who are bed-bound can experience the delights, falling asleep in their city to the sounds of laughter and music, hoping that their relative might bring back a warm bag of something fried that the carnival has to offer.
This is Soddorrah, an enigmatic town that moves in with the sunrise one day and moves out at midday two weeks later. In those two weeks, performances and art and beautiful magic are offered, to the citizens of the city that they move near to, every night, lighting up the sky with colourful lights and fireworks and filling the area with cacophonous music. It is always a surprise to see the hoards of performers with their carts and horses turn up on a nearby plain and begin erecting colourful tents, but a welcome one.
There is an aura of mystery that permeates Soddorrah, even deeper than the smell of fried bread, and beyond the glamour there is always something more to be found in an Alley between two red-and-white striped tents- for better or for worse.

Demographic
Soddorrah is populated by performers, artists, and anybody with an adventurous soul and a way of earning money off of sedentary city people. Every time they stop, a new duo of acrobats joins a troupe, or a baker and his wife abandon their shop in favour of a cake stall, and the diversity of citizens of Soddorrah is therefore unrivalled. There are never two of the same species living in tents next to each other.
Soddorrah has also been known to attract less desirable people. Dealers of dangerous substances and businessmen who collect vulnerable and attractive youths to profit off of can be found in the furthest outskirts of the city, in dark tents that blend into the night, signposted by whispers. These people are often shunned by the general populous of Soddorrah, who value light and colour, but they will always draw in people from the still cities that are enthralled by the dark fantasy of these immoral businesses.

Architecture
Soddorrah is built entirely of mobile architecture. Most of its 'buildings' are colourful tents. However, one can also find enigmatic vardos parked in between these tents, painted with intricate designs.
The tents vary in size, from small, domestic tents to large performance tents that dominate the skyline and rival the size of permanent buildings. The largest of all is by far the circus tent, which is the performance tent of The Ringmaster and his circus troupe, and is easily larger than a typical wealthy noble's manor house.
Not every performance is inside of a tent. It is common to see large, wooden stages erected too.
Everything in Soddorrah is colourful. Anything that isn't a vibrant, kaleidoscopic colour is that way for artistic design. Nobody ever leaves anything unpainted or unembroidered without reason.

Points of Interest
THE GATES
The Gates are towering wooden gates that visitors to the town go through to enter Soddorrah. Visitors must pay to enter, although, as long as a coin goes into the toll booth's box, the exact amount to pay for entry is unspecified. Money that enters the toll booths at the gates goes into the care of the Mayor, who uses it for the benefit of the town, for emergencies, or to pay performance tents that didn't take as much as they would have hoped.
The gateways are elaborate, painted various colours, and inlaid with golden details. They are wide enough to fit around ten people in, shoulder to shoulder, and are accompanied by attendants with toll boxes. The gateway is shaped in an arch, and the gates themselves are made, out of intricately carved wood, so large that they have to be pulled open by horses.
THE CIRCUS TENT
The circus tent is the performance space of the ringmaster and his troupe. It is about the size of a mansion, and the inside consists of a raised, ring stage with in-the-round seating. the ceiling of the tent goes extremely high up, all of the vertical space is utilised by the performers. The canvas of the tent is classic white and red striped. It is the biggest tent in the town, and one of the most notable features on its skyline. It has to be erected by a team of mages.

History
Not much is known of the history of Soddorrah. It is said that the town was started very early on in history, and has been around for hundreds of years. In this time, it has seemingly not changed much. Apart from exponential growth, from a travelling troupe to a sprawling town, the social and economic structure of Soddorrah has barely been altered.
