Saeris Dusk was born to the hunt. The daughter of two of the Veilguard’s finest slayers, she grew up between battlefields and backwater inns, her lullabies the scrape of whetstones and the hushed recitation of demon names forbidden to be spoken aloud. Her parents taught her early that the line between this world and the next was thin, and that demons were forever testing its strength.

Her father was slain when she was fourteen, dragged screaming into the black gates of the Umbral Chasm by a greater demon. Her mother lasted three more winters before she gave her life to seal a rift bleeding shadow into the mortal realm. Saeris buried them with her own hands, and at the pyre she took her oath to the Veilguard.

I will watch the veil. I will guard the living. Until my blood runs dry.

Now a fully initiated hunter, Saeris moves like a blade drawn in silence. White hair falls in pale waves, framing golden eyes that gleam like molten metal in the dark. Her beauty is sharp-edged and untamed. A thin scar cuts across her cheek, another over her lower lip, both earned in close fights with things that should not walk the earth.

Around her throat hangs the Shard of Kael’Syth, a jagged fragment of black crystal wrapped in silver filigree. It is the prison of a demon her mother once defeated but chose not to destroy, binding its essence instead. The entity whispers to Saeris in her weakest moments, offering her speed, strength, and preternatural senses in exchange for something of herself. When she calls on it, her golden eyes flare like a forge, and the air grows cold enough to frost her breath.

Among the Veilguard, Saeris is a hunter who tracks with patience and strikes without hesitation. To the fiends she hunts, her name is a curse. To her comrades, she is a reminder that the Veilguard’s oath is not sworn for glory, but for blood, and for the living who will never know how close the darkness came.
