Ril’thilian
Much of Ril’thilian’s past has been left unspoken, but what is commonly known is that he appeared in the town of Rogue’s Hollow about a century ago. He purchased the local inn and has since been its keeper. While over the years he has only ever proven himself to be righteous and peaceful, his presence has forever been contested by the town guard’s captain and his descendants, as well as several others. They are of the belief he brought with him the grief that has slowly overtaken the settlement and somehow responsible for the increase in barbarism in the surrounding lands – a claim he has always denied.
Despite the accusations he has done quite well even for such a dwindling settlement, and over the years has garnered a great deal of respect and influence among the people and even many of the soldiers. He has been regarded as benevolent and charitable; often giving freely of that which he has. He does not advocate for any kind of spirituality in particular but comes across as a priestly or pious individual.
Appearance
His very essence screams the epitome of the elven image; regal and proud. With his head held high white locks cascade all around him, parted to reveal a near ageless face. He bears fair and almost feline looking features, with long thin brows and wide bony cheeks. And while he lacks wrinkles or obvious signs of age, the clear indicators are his grey skin and grey eyes, representative of his “dimming light”. He is thin and long, flesh seemingly scarce around his bones.
Skills and Abilities
Herbalist: Ril’thilian is known to concoct various medicines and teas from the surround flora, some of which are quite renowned – at least throughout the town. The healing properties of many of his medicines are limited to flus, colds, and minor headaches, some of his potions are said to have life-saving attributes.
Business: The Tavern/Inn in Rogues Hollow has continued to flourish despite the diminished population. Surviving through several bandit and other barbarian tribe attacks, he has persisted as the innkeeper for over and century despite disparaging times.
Magic: Very little is known about Ril’thilian’s magical abilities, but the guard captain Thorgauld always said he could “make people see things his way somehow.” But he also said other things about him, far less vague and far more unbelievable.
Personality
Ril’thilian has always been described many of his neighbors as kind, gentle and even beneficial. Often offering a smile, even to those he sees often he will extend the graciousness of his wealth in times of great need with no expectation of return. In the public eye he has done very well to personify himself as a very charitable and caring individual which has served to gain him nearly as much influence if not more than the local authority.
Though to those who watch him closely, there is a dark tendency which surfaces only to the watchful eye. A hint of cruel malevolence from a bitter and hardened heart, peaking through only the smallest of cracks. He is narcissistic and evil to his core; twisted by a fear instilled into his very being. With careful and quiet calculation, he weaves his webs of deceit and illusion, lashing out only to ensnare any who would seek to bar his path.
