Rhamnousia is the spoiled sister of Paetr, a High Lord of the Night Court. While her brother and their family support the more progressive Kana′tĭ in his pursuit of his late father's throne, Rhamnousia's place is not in politics. Though female, she takes full advantage of her brother's lofty position to give her more importance where she can.

Appearance

Rhamnousia took after her mother in every regard as a member of the fairer sex. With flaxen hair like spun gold, skin as pale as whey, and eyes the color of glaciers, she is not the vision of the frosted plains or snow-capped mountains, but the rare blooms on their shoulders. She is quite beautiful, if in a common way by fae standards.

Duanann Affinity

Mirror
Rhamnousia has no gifts of affinity on her own. Independently, she is as colorless as a clear gemstone. Yet, just as the prism breaks the light into an array of color, so Rhamnousia can extract the affinities of duanann around her.

For a small cost of her personal magick, Rhamnousia can detect and "read" the affinities of others. She gains a sense of their abilities and the costs of their use. This is not a perfect art and the details are sometimes as vague to her readings as they are to their native source. The more complicated the working of the affinity, the more time Rhamnousia will need to understand it. Exposure to an affinity in use can help her gain a much stronger and more precise reading.

She can choose to "borrow" an affinity from its source, but pays its drawback up front for the amount she takes, saving it for later use. The greater the borrowed affinity, the more difficult it is to hold onto. After years of rigorously training, the young fae can still only hold onto borrowed affinities for a handful of days at best. Beyond that time, she loses it. She can only borrow one affinity at a time, and to borrow another would discard the previous. Rhamnousia's execution of these affinities is never as refined as if cast from their native source and are prone to going awry if she has not been exposed to the affinity in use.

Moreover, she may choose to "cancel" or nullify the effects of an affinity in her proximity at the cost of that which it took its source to cast in the first place.

Sources are not aware of their affinities being borrowed, but they can sense their cancellation or their borrowed use in their presence.

Celestial Alignment

Rhamnousia is an odd fae of lunar proclivities. The greater Lessat's shadow, the greater her power, making its zenith when Lessat eclipses the sun.

Elemental Alignment

Born on the Eratejva tundra, it seems only natural that Rhamnousia is a creature naturally suited to the freezing cold. She is a fae of air and earth. Neither cold nor terrain can harm her, and she can both summon a hard frost and nurture the rare tundra flora that thrive in the harsh landscape of her homeland.

Animal Shape

Rhamnousia takes the shape of a golden doe.

Skills and Abilities

Besides her natural gifts as a member of the fae species, Rhamnousia is especially gifted at nature magicks and wards.

Beyond her magickal gifts, she is a lovely dancer, shows proficiency with embroidery and drawing, and can both read and write. She also proves herself as an excellent rider and archer, and is an avid hunter.

Personality

Bored, malicious, and idle, Rhamnousia is a bad example of a high-born woman in the Night Court. She is often impatient and very accustomed to getting her way (as much as any woman can in the Night Court), and prone to fits and tantrums when things do not fit her ideas. She is often caught with her hand in subtle social machinations, a fiend for gossip and knowing just the strings to pull for a favor. Had she been born male, she would have certainly been a rival to her younger brother's success. As she was not, it is her lot to sit pretty and play a different sort of game. She does not resent Paetr, but takes a keen joy in making him miserable from time to time.

Besides being a sniveling brat in the home, Rhamnousia's true colors are never as pure and vivid as when she is on the hunt. She possesses a rather obsessive personality and her fixations are absolute, especially regarding certain men. She is not afraid to hurt others and, on the contrary, takes great delight in using her strength to bring harm. Like her brother and their father before them, she lacks empathy and sees the world as her domain and a playground for her wicked delights. For what other purpose could magick have given her such terrible powers if not to use them?
