Religion Creation Guide

Guide

At ChroniclesRP we love and share in the creation of new fantastic stories and locations. However, to keep our Wiki organized and to keep from being overrun we ask that before you submit a new Religion you first establish several roleplays around it. This will not only help flesh out your creation, but will also allow people a better view into the small piece of your story you are creating.

You can add a summary of your Government in a paragraph here. The following list provides the key details, but can also be provided in the settlement infobox (add link)
  • Name: (What is the name of your Religion? How is it referred to by others?)
  • Religion Type: (Is this religion Monotheistic, Polytheistic? Tell us here.)
  • Size: (How big is your Religion? Is it a small cult of a hundred followers? An organized Religion of thousands? Tell us here.)
  • Alignment: (Though Chronicles doesn’t use the standard alignment of the Fantasy Verse, it’s good to know the general attitude of your Religion. Are you good guys? Bad Guys? Neutral? Or somewhere in the middle?)

Beliefs

(Religion, no matter if big or small, is ultimately about belief. The idea that something somewhere is bigger than you. This section of the Template is here for you to describe the beliefs and tenets of your religion.

You should outline not only the greater aspects, such as belief in a central god or worship of a particular demon, but also smaller details such as day to day rituals. It is important to highlight every aspect of your religions belief and how it actually operates. In a fantasy setting, particularly one like Chronicles, Religions can and will be extremely important to many aspects of roleplay. The more detail you provide, the better someone can interact and roleplay with your creation.

Remember to also include some flavor aspects of your religion. Do the people who believe have any common symbols to worship? Are Tattoos a thing or preached against? Does it have a priest class?

These things are all incredibly important and should be included. Similarly, you should also tell us how your Religion views Magic. Do they have their own Magical Discipline? Do they preach against all forms of magic or just some? Do they not care at all? In the Chronicles Universe these are all very important.)

Structure

(No matter what every Religion has some kind of structure to it. Whether it be through a single leader or democratic decision, it is important you tell us how exactly your Religion operates.

Within this section please detail how your Religion actually is organized. Tell us whether there is a single leader who receives word from the deity(s) or whether it is a council. Describe to us who makes the final decisions and how things are actually set up to run properly. Is there a priest ‘class’? Do they rule over the worshippers or is everyone equal? This is important for insight into the religion itself.

Also note just how decisions are made and passed down along the ranks, who carries out what and generally how this process actually happens. Where do the orders come from?

You can also use this section to tell us how leaders are chosen and how they got into place originally. If it is relevant you can also note how people can rise through the ranks and join your the Religion initially, making it easier for others to RP with or inside of your group.)

Background

(Religion is a very important aspect for many living people. It is undeniably one of the most influential things in any world, and here on ChroniclesRP it is no different.

It is very likely that your religion has strongly influenced at least a few people, and outlining the background of your religion will help others roleplay just how it has affected them or characters around them.

Please use this section to tell us how your religion came into being. Tell us how it has survived and what it has endured. We don’t want you to tell us every little detail of the religions history in our Universe, but we would like you to tell us the big points of what has happened. Was there ever a large schism? Did the central figure ever die and need to be replaced? Has there been a massive crisis of Faith before?

Giving us an objective history will help us include your religion in our own stories and will make sure your creation is properly built on.

This section is more of an Out of Character blurb than anything else. It details what we the readers should know about your group in order to properly roleplay with them. It will give us a better picture of what we can expect and just how to use them in a narrative.)

Lore

(The Lore Section of this Template is perhaps one of the most important. Here you should detail what is known of your Religion within the wide ranging world of Chronicles RP.

This section can be both short and long, it can be written in the style of a journal, history book, or just in a standard way. It is however important to fully convey just how your location is viewed by others and how much is known by folk at large. This will aid other writers in actually interacting with your group and further aid them in including your creation in the narrative.

One can also utilize this section to establish unique and interesting story aspects of your group, giving you an opportunity to create history from the point of view of your organization and those within it. Remember that this history is from the point of view of your Religion or someone living within its belief, and is not necessarily the truth of the world.)

References

  1. ^You can also add footnotes through the article that will automatically appear in the references section with a link

In this section you should list the references of IC roleplay to your city. As stated at the beginning of the guide, we ask you to RP out your creation before submitting the article itself.[/reflist][/reflist]
