* Usually armed with a two-handed dwarven warhammer, and a handaxe sidearm. Carries the Great Tome of Clan Ironhammer with him at all times.

Skills and Abilities

Venerator: Analogous to paladins serving a divine power, dwarven Venerators serve their Clan and their Ancestors in a similar manner. They tell the tales of old and record the tales of today to be told in the future. They keep the honorable and heroic mythos of their Clan, and of the Arragoth people at large, alive and well in the hearts of dwarves and in the ears of landdwellers. This duty, of course, requires them to be present in conflicts and battles most harrowing, and so they train in the use of the heaviest of dwarven arms and armor. Given the need to survive, what magics they may have are almost entirely defensive in nature.

The Great Tome: More than just a record of Clan Ironhammer history, accords, and genealogy, the Great Tome of Clan Ironhammer is a book of mystical power. The spirits of old can be beseeched for their aid, granting boons to Arragoth they deem worthy. Mayhap the Ancestors themselves can be summoned, briefly, in battle.

** Sealed and protected by runes inscribed by Ordin himself under the guidance of a master Runecrafter, these runes draw their power directly from him. Ordin, quite literally, protects the Great Tome with his life.

Biography and Lore

For a long time, Ordin Ironhammer has shirked responsibility to his esteemed Clan. While his multitude of brothers entered into military or political service, his multitude of sisters in masterful craftswork and forging and even diplomatic affairs with other nations, Ordin lived the life of an honorless dwarf: reneging on contracts and promises, drinking and whoring, departing from Belgrath to go on for years of adventuring and returning just as suddenly.

Finally, Ordin's father, Baingrim, Patriarch of the Ironhammer Clan, had enough. With love for his son ultimately triumphing over his anger, Baingrim offered Ordin a choice: face disinheritance and disownment from the Clan, or swore the Venerator's Oath and take up the Great Tome. The weight of decision was heavy and sobering, but Ordin, looking upon the reproachful yet hopeful looks of the many dwarves of his Clan, accepted that it was far past time for him to put his life into proper order.

He passed the trial of the Venerator, and took up the Tome. His would be a path of honor and redemption now.

A path with a rocky start. Upon reading through the whole of the Ironhammers' Great Tome, as was his duty as Venerator, Ordin became dismayed. Dismayed at what had been lost not only by Clan Ironhammer, but by all Dwarvenkind over the centuries. And at last he discovered why he had been so irresponsible, so flippant and cavalier and immature, in his past.

He lacked purpose.

And now, at last, he had it.

To see Clan Ironhammer, to see the Arragoth, reclaim some of its lost glories.
