Noelani, Daughter of the Chief
Amongst the tropical islands off the coast of the Trident are a people said to be born of the sea, home to the Mchawi. Legend has it that the people emerged were born from the joining of sands and sea in the Beginning. They look remarkably similar to humans but are physically stronger and they can go without air for an unnaturally long time. As well as these gifts many of their people have an affinity with the element Water and find it easy to bend to their will. Some progress further in this art than others, the highest order of water mages is that of the Namaka's or the Seawitches as people of the Common Tongue have called them.
Overview
Appearance
Most often Lani will wear the typical attire of a Namaka and prefers most of the time to wander barefoot. The attire of a Namaka is designed to provide warmth but also protection whilst swimming in the deeper parts of the ocean and they also act as a surprisingly good light armour whilst on land also.
No matter her outfit she will always be found with the dagger her father gifted to her when she was accepted into the Namaka order, and the anklet bracelets that once belong to her mother.
Personality
Despite the erratic nature of the element she wields, Noelani keeps her emotions in check and is diplomatic in her approach to most things. Her position amongst her people affords her a touch of arrogance which can come across in her dealings with people as blunt and curt, though no ill is probably meant. Lani prefers the company of people she knows well to new people but she is tolerant and open minded of new prospects and opportunities for herself. As an educated woman she has a quick mind and a sharper wit that often people find surprising.
Skills & Attributes
Water Bending: Noelani's main gift lays in her ability to control the element of water, that is that she can produce it, manipulate it and change its properties slightly in regards to temperature and density. This gift can be used defensively but also, and more often, on the offensive. As with all magics the more she draws on it the higher the price on her own energies. It requires less if there is a pool of water nearby with which to command and the most demanding of this type of magic is pulling it from the air and plants into a force strong enough to wield as a tool.
Healing: Lani has learnt the unique sub ability to heal with her water bending, though this is a new skill that she had yet to hone as well as her gifts of water manipulation in its purest form.
The Gifts of Namaka: Namaka is the Goddess of the Mchawi and as such the unique gifts offered to them as a race are described as the Gifts of Namaka. These include the ability to go without air for long periods of time, to be extremely strong swimmers who can adjust to colder temperatures and the pressures of the deeper water, a keener sense of sight and being physically stronger than other humans.

Background
History
Noelani was the fifth and last child to the Grand Chief of the Mchawi people who populate the tropical islands off the coast of the Trident. As the youngest she was given the most freedom out of her siblings and spoiled rotten by them all. Like her mother it became apparent that Lani's affinity with the sea was stronger than most of her peoples and she began an education in the more finesse uses of the element of water. At the age of 16 she was formally welcomed into the ranks of the Namaka, a revered group of mages who excelled in the abilities of the sea and used them to protect and advance the Mchawi people.
With her education complete and the start of her true training ahead of her she was involved more in the family affairs of state and began accompanying her siblings on their duties across the isles and then further afield to strike trade deals and alliances with the main land, before eventually taking on some of these tasks on her own.
