Mistalee is actually an elven noble. She was raised with her parents and her two brothers. Arfaern was her younger brother, and her elder brother is Aegisess. Her father had a minor gift of foresight, and upon the birth of his daughter he saw that she would follow in his footsteps to become a bowman like himself. As soon as she was old enough to hold a bow in her hands, he began training her.

Her father had several duties, one of which was to guard several magical artifacts. While she was still a young girl, these artifacts caught the attention of some human wizards who came seeking their power. Her father turned them away and told them they were no long welcome in their lands. This did not prevent the return of the power hungry mages. A few weeks later, they returned in force and attacked Mistalee's childhood home.

Upon hearing her mother's scream Mistalee ran into the room just in time to see her murdered. Her father yelled for her to take her younger brother and run for safety, moments before he sacrificed his own life to protect his children. Without waiting another moment, Mistalee took her little brother into her arms and ran. As she ran, he was struck with a poisoned bolt. She managed to hid herself and her brother well enough, but was unable to seek aid to cure her brother of the poison. He died several hours later in her arms. She did not leave her hiding spot until one of the guards found her the next morning.

Only her elder brother survived the attack because he was away on a hunting trip. He returned the next morning to find that his younger sister was all that was left of his family. Enraged to hear that these humans had murdered his family, he mounted a pursuit. The fleeing wizards knew they could not outrun the pursuing elves and decided to test out on of the powerful artifacts they had stolen from her father. The result was catastrophic. Instead of destroying their enemy, they destroyed themselves all because they did not understand the power of the item they held.

Since that day Aegisess watched over his younger sisters and did all she could to protect her from any harm. But she was her father’s daughter, and would have none of it. Despite her brother's wishes she continued to practice her archery skills until the day she was strong enough to take up her father's bow. Soon after that she left home to travel. Her brother keeps trying to send guards after her to bring her home.

The murder of her family shaped her view upon the world. She does not distrust magic itself, in fact she has a bit of the gift herself. What she is distrustful is magic in any race she feels does not live long enough to properly understand its dangers. She feels that at least 100 years is required to know what you are doing. Due to her hate of human wizards in particular, she has picked up being a bounty hunter on the side.
