One of the few men in Anirian High Society who did not come from a wealth in the generation above him. Mihali Brandt is a man who clawed himself out of the gutter and rose through the system step by step.

Born in the slums outside of the Great City of Vel Anir Mihali worked early on for several criminal synidcates as a runner. His parents were poor, and working for the gangs was the only way to support their family. Through the years Mihali picked up dozens of tricks, most of them dealing with manipulating people and earning your own way.

At the age of seventeen, like all Anirian's Mihali was given notice that his conscription would soon come into effect. The young boy joined eagerly, knowing the military was a chance to make more coin for his family.

Over the next year Mihali proved himself to be an exceptional soldier. He learned quickly, studied things around him, and was clearly marked for something great. His officers complemented him often, and he soon reached the decision to remain in the guard. As time went on, his exceptionalism continued, and eventually his gifts for dealing with people as well as a certain learned brutality earned him an offer from the Anirius Vigilite.

Once again seeing an opportunity, Mihali accepted.

As the years passed, the boy who was once nothing but a gutter rat proved himself an extraordinary dedicate of the Vigilite, and he was quickly promoted through the ranks. Eventually, after dozens of uncovered plots, hundreds of rebel leaders rooted out, and informants brought in Mihali was promoted to Inquisitor, and from there was one of the two dozen or so in line for heading the Vigilate next when the Revolution occurred.

Though scaling back some of it's more brutal practices, the Republic ultimately decided that the Anirius Vigilite was an asset too great to ignore. Deciding that the Inquisitors would remain, and finding that Mihali was the most...well suited to leading the organization within this new age.

The Anirius Vigilite

Founded some three hundred year ago after the victory of the Second Elven War, the Anirius Vigilite is an order devoted to furthering state goals. They were crafted as a counterintelligence agency, handling everything from Rebels against the Crown to torturing disobedient Dreadlords.

Commonly called the Inquisition, the Vigilite are not technically a subset of the Anirian Guard. Though most of their members are plucked from previous Guardsmen, the Order itself is an entirely separate entity.

The Vigilite have served many masters over the years. Starting with loyalty to the crown, then like most falling to the oligarchy of the Houses. During the tenure of the Great Houses the Vigilite would strive to always convey it's greatest services to those within the ruling Alliaince. At times however this tradition was bucked, though only at times the Vigilite's power was enough to resist the Houses.

Due it's role as in rooting out conspiracy and rebellion, the Vigilite are often feared.

Known for their brutality and more totalitarian method, there are few in Anirian Territory who do not curse the organizations name when it is heard. Even Guardsmen stand ill-at ease around these men and women, usually staying as far as they can. Some elements of the Guard even sees them as rivals.

Now, during the Republic things have changed. Though a significant mark of the old regime, the Vigilite still serve and important purposes. They are a vanguard against what lays in the shadows, the eyes that watch what will come from the dark.

An important task, but one that often leads to blood.
