Melua Ha'alal Piliqoa (a.k.a Melu au Mah'na,) was a 4th Century Surgeon and Carnomancer well-known for his publishing of a number of manuals and theories produced as a result of controversial experimentation. He is cited as a pioneer in both fields. His biographies often remember him as an underhanded and rapacious rogue with the guise of a scholar and gentleman. In 1206, his research saw extensive reproduction as a part of the Kunni'a Experiments on behalf of Rakhettan University following the discovery of his library aboard his personal yacht, Ahli'Ahmaru, which was discovered and resurfaced from the reefs around the Cortosi Islands the year before.

Early Life

Melu was born in the heat of a pirate attack amid the waters between the tense region of Auehana. His parents, a petty landowner seeking passage with her lover, died joining in the defense of the ship with the names of both having been lost to time. Following the attack, he was adopted by the doctor who delivered him: a disgraced and eccentric man known as Adu'ala. Both were taken hostage after the failed defense, but as ransoms became unpaid, both saw gradual integration with their captors before eventually joining themselves. The ship, known as Ahli'Ahmaru (The Red Moss, in the local tongue,) would continue to be Melu's home for the remainder of his life.

Appearances in High Society

Melu was often well-regarded as a charming partygoer, finding himself among esteemed guests in numerous high-society venues. Later in life, he was known to perform elaborate party tricks using his unique brand of physical alchemy - most times resulting in a debutante or two fainting, to his amusement. His eccentric nature, though generally unpopular to those that were the target of his antics, won him a wide variety of acquaintances and people who were amused by his trickery. Despite this, however, he continued to maintain a relatively inconsequential social standing among the hierarchy of his homeland, and none considered him worth much mind when they met him at one of these functions.

His attire would often reflect his current state of affairs: as an everyday affair, he would wear a noble yellow in caricature of the very people he went to visit. Most of the clothes were upcycled from old dresses and jewelry donned by women, transformed to fit his masculine appeal while maintaining an elegant charm often expected from the women of Auehana's high society. Of course, this varied greatly from the attire he often wore in the field, which was a more minimalist set of trousers and linen shirts to go with a grand patchwork overcoat.
