Maxon Cerrsa
Maxon Cerrsa
The Hoading Guardsman, a man with a penchant for gathering trinkets and baubles on the battlefield. Some would call it looting, but he refers to it as "building his collection".
Appearance
Maxon looks older than he is after 2 decades of service in the guard. Scars adorn his face and his hair is beginning to grey significantly. The most noticeable thing about him, though, is the enormous amount of stuff he has on him. An impractical number of items small and large adorn him, so much so that he often looks more like an adventurer than a soldier in the Anirian Guard. He almost wouldn't be recognizable if it weren't for his constant present company.
Maxon also looks fairly large despite his relatively normal height, partly due to the amount of items on him, and partly due to his muscle mass. A battlefield injury lacerated his vocal cords, causing his voice to sound raspy and thin.

Skills and Abilities
Strength is Maxon's major attribute, due to his history as a blacksmith. His grip strength is incredible, as well as his ability to lift. Additionally, he seemingly doubles in strength when someone tries to touch his things.
Intelligence is a surprising aspect of Maxon, as he is as simple as they come. Simple doesn't mean stupid, however, and Maxon has proven to be quite conniving when it suits him.
Experience comes with age, and it has come to Maxon throughout his time in the guard. He knows how to get what he wants and when to let go. Though he does not enjoy letting go in the slightest.
Maxon works best with Sword & Board as well as other longsword fighting, but he's not quite bad when putting gauntlets to faces either. Both his training and his experience have made him able to hold his own. The hoard he carries with him also serves as a sort of training weight (although he never intended it to be such). If he's separated from it through an undoubtedly involuntary circumstance, he becomes noticeably faster.

Personality
Attached is the simplest word someone could use for Maxon. It's obvious he gets attached to items, but also places and people. It's one of the reasons he remains distant to most of his comrades and why he seemingly disdains every place he goes, even his former home. He only has so much attachment to go around, so he spreads it among his collection and The Guard as a whole. It's rare for him to become attached to a person, but when he does, he almost sees them as a part of his collection, and guards them just as fiercely. The stupidest thing for a peer of his to do is mess with his collection, as he'll often be sent into an irrational rage. He's not an idiot though, and will resort to more cunning means when dealing with superior officers that seek to get rid of his regulation breaking horde. There may have even been a disappearance or two, but those are only rumors. It's enough to get most of his back, though.
Maxon's thin voice doesn't stop him from talking, very often to complain and grumble. It's a right that he's unofficially earned for his long service, and one he readily abuses. He doesn't like much responsibility, which is evidenced by consistently refusing promotion from the comfortable rank of sergeant. He's quite a simple person, and doesn't like things that complicate his life in the guard. Additionally, he's very superstitious about certain items in his collection, with good luck charms consisting of a good chunk of his belongings.

Biography & Lore
Growing up in Vel Zrada gave Maxon an appreciation for artistry and beautiful things in general. He was born to a blacksmith and his wife, and was planned to inherit the shop. He received training and lived a relatively normal life up until before his 18th nameday. He's still not sure what happened. He was out getting some food from the market, and when he got back the whole shop was ablaze. Both of his parents were caught in it and died, and the shop that was their life's work was turned into ash. Nothing should have started this mystery fire, his parents were always far too careful, but it undoubtedly started from inside. He barely got a week to collect himself and grieve before the time for mandated service came. With nothing to go back to, he simply never left the Guard. Maybe he could have when he was younger, when he still remembered the Craft. Now, though? Now, its far too late. All that's left to do is bide his time until the day he dies in some far off place out west.
