Appearance
Mara bears the scars of her past in a literal sense. Her hands and arms are burned almost to her elbows, her visage disfigured by burn scars that mar the left side of her face. These are fresh, but someday will fade, and she hides them as much as she can. She is a lithe form, perhaps on the thin side. She wears her brown hair just long enough to somewhat conceal the damage to her face.

Skills and Abilities
Mara is a talented pyromancer, though held back by inexperience and lack of a proper teacher. She lacks the ability to sing to the forest. As she moves through the world, she is a decent cook and can survive in the wild to a degree. She has also learned to move quietly, though this is more a reflection of wishing not to disturb others than a roguish inclination. She is an able sculptor, finding stone more comforting and less flammable than wood.

Personality
Mara is generally well meaning, but she is often aloof and reserved. She maintains some pride that occasionally becomes arrogance, partially to compensate for her disfigurement. She is deeply sensitive and considers her scars to be things of shame and hides them whenever she can.

Biography & Lore
Mara’s upbringing was fairly typical for an elf, complete with art and music. She lacked the ability to sing to the trees and shape them, but did well enough learning how to carve stone. Her talent for pyromancy was hidden for years, Mara barely managing to conjure a small flame even though it came easily to her. That changed when a traveling mage stopped by her village. He offered her some training and advice, allowing her to hone her gift and feed more power into her spells. Shortly after he left, the accident happened. In conjuring flame, Mara gave it too much and the fire went from a campfire to a blaze that consumed the fallen leaves and then a tree. She tried to put it out, but burned herself badly. The rest of the village responded and quickly extinguished the fire. Mara could conceal her magic no longer. It was decided by the eldest that she needed to leave, to hone her powers and to keep the forest protected from her. Mara still bitterly views her exile, even though she understands their reasoning.
