Appearance

Magrin is a large man, well muscled and square in the shoulder. His eyes are deep and contemplative, his hair is gray now due to age and the exertion of life. There's a small scar just beneath his brow line on the right side of his head that mixes with his hairline. While he's closing in on fifty years of age he could pass for a slightly younger man in the right light, maybe someone in their early forties.

He has several tattoos. The impression of a Torc which encircles his broad shoulders and comes together in front of his collar bone. Both ends depict snarling wolves. His forearms are encircled by a depiction of chains wrapping themselves around them innumerable times. A Tattoo of the Moon is prominently inscribed on his back.

Skills and Abilities

Elder Lycanthrope - Magrin is a Lycanthrope, turned over twenty years ago. Whether through cunning or dumb luck he's outlived many of those afflicted with Lycanthropy that he knows of. As such he's developed several abilities and weaknesses to match. Foremost being that Magrin is no longer forced to change during the full moon, with some willpower and the assistance of magic described below he can resist the change instead of transforming into a mix of man and wolf. Strength, speed and senses have also been enhanced beyond the norm for him. As a man Magrin is stronger and faster than others of a similar physique and he retains some of the enhanced senses imparted on him from his animal half, his sense of smell and night vision are similar to that of a canine. As a beast Magrin could quite literally rip a bear in half. Finally Magrin is also capable of a partial shift which is quicker than an overall transformation (though still painful) capable of transforming his hands into clawed vestiges and shaping his teeth into predatory incisors. In contrast to all this Magrin's greatest weakness is an increased vulnerability to silver. The mere touch of silver is enough to burn his skin and silver chains would rob him of his enhanced abilities. Silver wounds require extra time to heal and leave grievous scars.

Rune Magic - Part of the reason for Magrin's increased control over his Lycanthrope state is due to Rune Magic. All of his tattoos are littered with smaller, more intricate symbols which quite literally activate to keep the beast in check ensuring that Magrin is in control not the beast inside. The cost of this is especially evident during the Full Moon, Magrin may not change however the combination or magic and willpower needed to keep his transformation in check literally exhaust him and he is at his weakest then.

Magrin knows other Runes as well and can apply them to equipment, arms, armor and himself if he has enough time to prepare.

Axe Fighter - As a Nord Magrin has held an axe since he was a young boy and his skill with them is quite evident as he's even able to wield two, one in either hand in combat. He knows a plethora of tricks and tactics with them which he can put on display in combat. Magrin knows how to use a sword and shoot a bow too and while he'd competent in their use his skill nowhere near excels to the same level it does when he has an axe in his hands.

Personality

Stoic. Silent. Magrin prefers to talk little amongst those he doesn't know or trust which is most people however he can become gregarious after a few cups of mead. Amongst friends or confidantes he opens up, listening to advice or offering counsel where appropriate. While he can control his transformations the beast inside of him ensures that his temper can be explosive at times.

Biography & Lore

What can one say about Magrin's past? When he was a young man he encountered a beast and was afflicted with Lycanthrope. Only the kindness of another man, skilled in Rune Magic and with some knowledge of the disease saved him. He tattooed the runes into Magrin so that he could shackle his beast and hide his innate nature from others, he taught Magrin Rune Magic. For this Magrin is forever grateful, forever in the debt of this unknown individual but it is a debt he will likely never be able to repay; his savior died years back.

Magrin wanders now, he prefers smaller settlements and cities to the metropolises of the world as its easier to hide his nature. What Magrin hungers for most of all is battle, he feeds his beast with it and keeps it in check.

What the future holds is not yet written.
