Appearance

Magnus is slightly shorter than his normal human counterparts. He wears a forest green tunic with accented yellow trim and is covered by a deep blue cloak. The cloak is held together by a metal sigil pin, the sigil is marked with ancient runes that translate to something specific no doubt.

Guarding his wrists and hands are leather gauntlets that has been with him for a long time. Fur boots are worn as to help him and his many treks in cold territory.

On his person, he is seen carrying a leather satchel that contains some papers and maps. His belt holds a pouch that is used for storing alchemical ingredients, navigation tools etc., a leather harness for a potion/canteen is also located on his belt. Lastly a leather strap affixed to his belt which is seen holding Magnus' grimoire. A book that he has written various spells and magickal knowledge into.

Skills and Abilities

(+) Rook- Magnus has the ability to call his falcon "Rook" and send messages to other towns or to even act as a scout for him.
(+) Arcane Knowledge- Magnus has a deep understanding of magic and has read tomes upon tomes on perfecting his technique. He is not perfect by any means but he is able to harness basic magic with ease.
(+)Alchemical Gatherer- Living out in the wilds, Gallus showed him various herbs and plants that would be useful in making healing potions---or deadly poison draughts.
(-)Orcs Must Die- He shows a very noticeable hostility toward Orcs and therefore can't make friends with them or even learn about them.
(-)Old Age- In his younger years, he attempted a great magic and paid the price. His biological age is 49 but the experiment left his body feeling older, hence why his hair is white and his posture is not as strong as it once was.

Personality

Most people consider Magnus to be a hermit, but this is not true. He finds that research is best done with a quiet atmosphere. A kind old man that enjoys learning about others (except Orcs) he shows enthusiasm in everything he does. When younger people ask him about magic he is sure to educate them saying that magic is a wonderful thing to learn about.

Biography & Lore

Magnus was born to a lower class family out in a small town bordering the Baal-Asha River in the year 320. Hard labor such as hauling water buckets, laying brick and traveling to trade was the only way to live comfortably in this town. At age 5 Magnus was put to work hauling water buckets from the river to bring into town. He grew accustomed to the work but dreamed of being else where, having an adventure. Altari had childhood friends that he played with on occasion and they would pretend to be great heroes of old, saving the land.

The town was not part of a major trade route but travelers did stop here before heading to Elbion, to the North. Magnus would see adventurers of all types stroll into town and he would intently listen to their stories. He cared not if the stories were true, as the tales themselves made his wanderlust grow. Sometime in 335, a stranger came into town and it was noted that they were a wizard of some sort. The stranger's name is almost forgotten but Magnus remembers it clearly. He offered Magnus a life of adventure and offered to teach him magic as the boy showed great potential. Magnus' parents wanted better for their son so they agreed to let this man take their only son out into the wilds and become something greater.

Magnus had a natural ability to commune with magic but it was his mentor Gallus, that showed him how to use his abilities. The duo traveled far and wide and saw many great wonders and learned many great things. Magnus had excelled in his practices and showed great admiration for knowledge and learning.

While trekking near The Spine, a pack of Orcs came and seized the two mages who were 'trespassing'. Brought before a chieftain, Gallus plead for release and informed the Orc that they were simply trying passing through. The Chieftain wouldn't have it and would sentence the two to perform manual labor around the camp. Not much is known other than Magnus broke free and ran while his mentor was killed for 'aiding in his escape'.

Ever since then, Magnus has a strange resentment toward Orcs. Heading to Alliria, Magnus used what money he could and bought a dagger to arm himself just in case his magic failed. He became a wandering wizard shortly after that and tried his luck on exploring what this world had to offer.
