The truest descendants from the Age of Uroghosh have a mission from their divine to protect and defend the rest of Arethil from arcane powers they cannot possibly comprehend.

The Inheritors of Uroghosh claim to trace their ancestry back to the ancient, forgotten, age when gods walked amongst mortals and miraculous events happened daily. Today they've interbred and mingled with the races of elves, dwarves, and men to create a society that is caste based yet still persists.

They have a singular mission to ensure the protection of magical artifacts and treasures that are too powerful - and thus too dangerous - to be trusted in the hands of mortals.

Appearance

Madeleine is an Uroghoshi with largely humanistic features. Not uncommon in modern days when humans became the dominant species on Arethil. She has red hair, green eyes, and a thin face that reveals little of the orcish blood that flows through every Uroghoshi. As is customary for many who are drafted as Summoners she has intricate, flowing, tattoos that cover her shoulders and arms.

Skills and Abilities

Adept use of Arcstone Armor and weaponry.

Inheritors of Uroghosh

The Inheritors of Uroghosh claim to trace their origins back to the Age of Uroghosh. An ancient and secretive society they were once comprised entirely of orcs who foresaw the downfall and cataclysms that would lead to the Age of Wonders, Expansion, and Chronicles. According to their fables an ancient orcish warrior known as "Lohzab Urgast" declared to receive a vision from the gods that walked amongst men and orc. This vision told him to break from tribal customs and create an organization that would protect Arethil from its own destructive instincts.

As a result, the Inheritors were formed. They built a great Vault which houses hundreds, if not thousands, of arcane artifacts deemed too dangerous to be trusted in the hands of mortals. This Vault is defended by a society that is broken into a rigid caste system which also hunts down any new artifacts that emerge or are discovered by the Inheritors.

Although they were initially a society of orcs the realities of inbreeding and thousands of years of time have made it a necessity to expand their gene pool. Historically this was achieved via kidnapping but over the centuries the Uroghoshi realized they could "scout" for the most competent members of a species and offer to let them join the tribe of Inheritors.

As a result all manner of beings consider themselves Uroghoshi today although as one enters the tribe of the Inheritors it's inevitable that orcish blood flows through their veins, no matter how distant it may be.

Arcstones

Arcstones are gemstones imbued with the magical power Sources that can be used to summon Arcarmor. The gemstones used can vary between opal, pearl, sapphire, amethyst, jade, lapus lazuli, and several others. These stones, when tapped by Summoners, summon armor that is powerful enough to deflect blows and many types of magic as well as weapons which can pierce a wide array of defenses.

Arcarmor is only effective for a finite amount of time and must be recharged by a mage that the Inheritors know as "Sources." These Sources use their magical abilities to imbue a piece of themselves into the gemstones so that arcarmor can be re-summoned. Some Sources are more attuned with specific gemstones than others.

Caste System

The Castes of the Inheritors of Uroghosh are broken into three very rigid groups. While this system is hierarchical members are allowed to marry outside of their caste and children are assessed by merit and not the caste they're born into.

First Caste - Sources

The highest caste which serves as religious leaders. They are the only caste permitted to learn reading and writing and many of them end up detailing laws and events in the annals of the Inheritors library. However, their primary function in society is to recharge Arcstones.

Thus, anyone of the Urghoshi who are born with magical talents are inducted into the ranks of the Sources. Their magic is honed purely to be used to charge arcstones with various sources excelling or specializing in certain gemstones.

Second Caste - Summoners

Summoners are the warriors and defenders of Rytghosh and the primary agents who hunt down and secure artifacts for the Inheritors. The Summoners do not possess magic of their own but have been selected for their affinity for combat to join the ranks of Summoner.

Though they are subservient to Sources both castes recognize that their existence relies upon the success of the other. It is not uncommon for Summoners and Sources to form close bonds, particularly between Sources who are talented at charging that particular Summoner's arcstone.

Third Caste - Servants

Those born within Inheritor society that do not possess magical abilities or the talent to be physically imposing are relegated to a life of servitude. Both Sources and Summoners regard this caste with respect, recognizing that without them they would not have agriculture, labor, or any of the other various jobs that are required for any society to function.

The Caste Council

The Council is composed of six members, two from each of the three castes. The six councilmembers decide the direction of Inheritor society via vote to ensure that one caste isn't unduly influence or asserting pressure on the others. There is also an elder who is nominated and voted upon by the entire population of the Inheritors. This elder only casts a vote if there is a tie and the elder's vote is only triggered after two rounds of debate amongst the lower council members.

Biography & Lore

Madeleine was born into the Inheritors of Uroghosh twenty-seven years ago. She went through many of the same trials and tribulations of her peers and while she lacked any magical prowess that would destine her for the caste of Source she was talented enough to become a Summoner, just as her mother before her had.

Upon her sixteenth birthday she was gifted a lapus lazuli gem which had been transformed into an arcstone. Training with her arcarmor for years she quickly distinguished herself as a competent member of the Inheritors. As is custom she took on the codename, "Minerva," upon graduation and has a prolific reputation within Inheritor society.
