Lyta Drømmer
The Dream Stone is the smallest of the 16 runestones.
Those who have had a chance to study it or see it in person all claim to have seen the gem take on a different hue, though all the Guardians agree it is of a deep sapphire blue shade. Given it's size Guardians have been known to insert the rune into jewellery pieces to suit their needs. Over the years it has been housed in the pommel of a sword, rings, necklaces and, most recently, a diadem.
The Dream rune is one of the more mysterious of the runes as its abilities are not physical things that can be studied at all and Guardians over the years have been loathe to discuss its multi-layered abilities. One of the most famous Guardians of the Dream Rune was Dagur Drømmer. During the Age of Legends and one of the Great Wars of the Steppes, it was said he stopped the Hoard who attempted to attack the City of Valenntenia by putting them into a 100 year sleep. When the Hoard awoke they swore their allegiance to Dagur's descendants and many citizens in Valenntenia can now trace their roots back to members of their once enemies.

The Booms of Dreams
Lyta's magical abilities are tied to the ancient rune she has been tasked with protecting. There are numerous texts on the Dream Rune which Lyta has studied over the years in an attempt to understand the full scope of its abilities, but much is unknown and so many texts are mere guesses. Most scholars agree, however, that there are several layers to the rune several of which the Guardians of old decided not to disclose to the Chroniclers.
Since being raised to a Guardian, Lyta has discovered the following gifts:
Dreamscape; The first part of the rune Lyta discovered. Guardians of the Rune gain access to the world of Dreams, which many believe to be the joint mental consciousness of citizens of the world. This world can be touched by any mortal and often is when they are dreaming a particularly strong dream, but only a few are able to walk it knowing it is a different world to the waking one. The Dream Rune gives this ability to the guardian but also requires the guardian protect this world as well as the one of the waking. It can be a dangerous place that is hard to leave and death here is permanent in the waking world.
Dream viewing: The rune gifts the guardian an ability to slip into sleeping peoples dreams and manipulate them. Over the years Lyta has also discovered the rune can force people into a dream - or nightmare - even if they had been awake. In order for this to happen the Guardian must touch a person. Guardians of the Dream Rune can also find a persons dream whilst in the Dreamscape and step into it. It is incredibly dangerous to wander another persons dream as a person can become stuck in this dream until the dreamer wakes, becoming a part of the dream itself.
Hearts Desire: It's not just a persons night by night dreams that the Guardian is privy too. One of the more recent gifts Lyta has discovered is the ability to view a persons heart desire - or deepest 'dream'. More and more frequently people find themselves wishing to tell Lyta these of their own free will, but she can also 'see' them in the form of faint images that appear over a persons head.
Nightmarish Reality: Often thought to be one of the few runes with limited physical boons, it was a surprise to Lyta to discover that she could make the nightmares of dreamers a physical reality. She had been able to create aspects of dreams too, but it is the nightmares that appear with more substance. The longer these nightmarish creations are a reality the harder they are to banish back to their own realm or control, becoming instead their own autonomous creations.
Dreams of Portent: The most recent gift to develop with the runestone and Lyta. These are completely uncontrollable and Lyta has very little information about them and if, even, this gift materialised in any of the Guardians before. Dreams of Portent feel fundamentally different to ordinary dreams and show the Dreamer a series of images, symbols and sounds that appear almost random. These Dreams can be interpreted and provide rare warnings for great calamitous events due to unfold.
None of these gifts are without a price. Since becoming a guardian Lyta has suffered from Narcolepsy like all guardians of the Dream Rune before her. This makes her prone to sudden bouts of sleep, and at times an inability to wake up. She often at times appears sleepy even when she is awake and suffers from weaker muscles and strength than most. Lyta has her own theories as to why this happens and thinks it is more than just a simple price for use of the rune, but because the rune demands her guardianship straddles both the waking and dreaming world.

Character Overview
Lyta always knew she was destined to become the Guardian of the Dream runestone like her mother, and her mothers mother before her. The Drømmer family are one of the rare families who can confidently claim to have been the power seat of the same runestone since they first came into being. As such her family have been afforded a great many privileges and enjoy a comfortable lifestyle no matter what sphere of work they enter. Out of Lyta and her brother, it was clear which one showed more of an affinity with the runestone from a young age. Despite the familial connection to the runestone, Lyta's mother did not impart any wisdom to her. It was very rare that her mother was at home and when she was she was distant, spending more and more time in the Dreamscape.
Eventually her mother fell into a deep coma and the runestone was passed on to Lyta.
Lyta travels with a great red elk by the name of Kuruk. The Great Red Elks are a native breed to the area of the Steppes in which Valenntenia reside and are commonly chosen over horses for their ability to climb mountainous areas with an ease most would attribute to a mountain goat than an elk. Kuruk is extremely gentle in nature and Lyta's beloved companion.
Eventually her mother fell into a deep coma and the runestone was passed on to Lyta.
