Lydia was born as the fourth child to a working class home near the edge of Vel Anir's capital city. She manifested magic at the age of five and was swiftly handed over to the academy. Proctors found her use of magic interesting and by the end of her tutelage she had proven herself as one of the most lethal students in the academy.

House Strand had been courting her for years and after various missions in service of the House she'd grown incredibly fond of Maritza, the only daughter of noble house. The revolution claimed the lives of Maritza's parents and her brothers, as they had answered Sirl's call and tried to resist. It was only due to Lydia's protection that Maritza emerged from the calamity unharmed.

Lydia now serves as Maritza's bodyguard and muscle as what remains of House Strand leads a political movement called Humanity First. It proclaims to wish to return Vel Anir back to the way it was pre-revolution. Many view the movement as a fringe group of terrorists but it has begun to slowly gain new membership. Only time will tell if the Republic considers it enough of a threat to strike it down.
