Lowell DuBois
Witty, aloof, humorous, and occasionally charming, Lowell doesn’t seem like your typical roguish type at first glance. In truth, he’s something of a poacher and an opportunist, often beguiling the naive and disappearing without a trace. He’s an accomplished outdoors man, spending weeks, sometimes months, hidden away in the wilderness, often alone. He only returns to town to peddle furs and meat for the most part, or if he hears of an opportunity to make a quick coin. His cunning and lack of morale compass drive him towards a singular goal: Wealth.
Appearance
Lowell stands above the average height of most humans. Toned from spending a fair bit of his time chopping down trees and hunting animals, along with the occasional human, he is lightly freckled with a tan that oftentimes isn’t even. He has angular facial features, with a hawk-like nose, a sharp grin, and structured jawline. He keeps his hair cut at a medium length, which alongside his eyebrows, are somehow always meticulously groomed. His green eyes are piercing and ever observant. His voice is smooth like honey, though he can be shrill at times.
As far as his dress goes, Lowell has a penchant for greens and browns, most likely due to the camouflage it provides. Oftentimes, the browns come in the form of leather, offering him some form of protection. Nestled on his back one will find a quiver full of arrows and his bow, provided it isn’t in his grasp. Along his belt, a carefully sharpened axe is sheathed. There are numerous hunting knives hidden about his person, ranging from his pockets, to his sleeves, to his boots.

Skills and Abilities
To state the obvious, Lowell is quite skilled in survivability, capable of recognizing tracks and a multitude of fauna and flora. As mentioned before, he is capable of surviving in the wilderness for quite some time, though as winter approaches, he finds himself residing alongside civilization more and more. As a hunter, he is quite skilled with a bow, preferring to kill his prey with a single shot through the eye. He is also skilled with an axe, not just for chopping wood, but for also chopping up whatever might be after him. He prefers the axe to his knives, which although he is proficient in using, he does not particularly enjoy having to clean human blood off the knives he uses to skin and prepare game.
Additionally, Lowell is adept at using mimicry magic. Having picked up on it at an early age, Lowell is capable of shifting his appearance to that of his recently killed quarry if he’s willing to use parts of it as a reagent, as well as manipulating a variety of other materials to his benefit, such as using plants for poison.

Personality
To put it plainly, Lowell has no allegiance to anyone but himself (and occasionally his family, if he’s in the right mood.) Oftentimes, he’s mistaken as a loner due to sequestering himself for so long in the wilderness, but that could not be further than the truth. He enjoys talking with people, often being called charming, other times sarcastic. He can be quite the character and people typically find it hard to argue with him, given his quick wit and penchant for firing off one-liners that can ruin people’s days.
Lowell has a dream, but in order to make that dream happen, he needs money. So he does it the only way that he knows how, through hunting, poaching, and killing. Frugal is a good way to describe him, alongside pragmatic. In his mind, he is a visionary, honing in on his destiny. He considers his life a mere grain of sand in comparison to some of the other races of Arethil, and he dreams of eventually living a comfortable, lazy life.

Biography & Lore
Lowell was born to a relatively small family on the outskirts of Vel Anir. The first and oldest child by four years, Lowell lived relatively comfortably. His father served in the military, while his mother owned an inn, in which they lived. Rather than live in the rooms above the inn’s tavern area, Lowell and his family lived below the inn. Finding the dwellings dark and murky, Lowell dreamed of one day leaving the cramped, rocky confines for a palace like the one inside Vel Anir.
As a child, he was educated by his mother how to run the inn, making him privy to learning to read and write, alongside arithmetic. However, she did not care for him nor his sister that much after they reached the age of eight. Instead, she delegated her father and mother to help raise them, as they had done for her sister’s children. Given that he had no male cousins, his grandfather was elated and took him into the woods quite often.
It was there that he learned he had a talent for magic. After years of his grandfather training him to hunt and use weaponry effectively, he began furthering his education on the magics of Mimicry. Finding himself to be talented at it, Lowell continued honing his skills well into adulthood.
By the age of 18, Lowell’s trips into the wilderness were lasting for exceedingly long amounts of time. He explored much of Falwood, eventually making it to Alliria and back multiple times over the next three years. He had been forced to kill a human in self defense for the first time, and after reconciling his morality, found that it was not much different than felling a beast. Though he preferred the fur and meat trade, he began finding work as a sellsword made just as much, if not more money. He continued to envision himself with more of it, of a nice house, with a loving husband and kids.
Nowadays, he finds himself returning to visit his family infrequently, continuing on his quest for wealth in order to build his own family.
