Lothar
“I was nothing, until I stole the eyes from a corpse.”
Born the bastard son of an unknown noble house, Lothar was given to the Academy the instant his mother discovered the gifts he possessed.
His magic magic both unimpressive and slow, the young Initiate did not fare well within the Academy. A constant subject of bullying by both Proctors and his peers, Lothar quite literally tried to make himself utterly forgotten. Through his early years he did his best to not be seen, heard, or felt.
Though this tactic worked sometimes, other times the young man found himself on the receiving end of brutal tortures. These tended to be the worst of the worst, and many would have broken under the mental strain.
Despite this, Lothar seems to have come out at least outwardly well adjusted. He did his best to be polite, calm, and always think before acting. A result that many Proctors commented was an impressive show of the boys resilience. Perhaps caused due to his innate magics.
The tortures of the Academy seemed to have forged a boy of cunning and guile rather than one of bestial impulses.
It was this skill that allowed Lothar to find his due in the aftermaths of the Dreadlord Revolution.
Caught on the periphery of one of the final struggles of strength during the Revolution, Lothar found himself nearly killed when First Dreadlord Sloan sacrificed herself to end Isbrand Lorel. Buried beneath the rubble, and without a voice to the world the young Initiate played over what had happened in his head again and again.
He thought about the Dreadlords he had watched, the Gods who had brought down nearly a whole city. He thought of them, and he felt nothing but rage and anger. For days he languished under the stone, hungry, dehydrated, angry.
The rage pushed him forward, forcing him to crawl beneath the rubble. Tearing his skin on broken rock, ripping the muscle beneath. He crawled and shuffled beneath the rubble, and then finally found his prize.
There he was reborn. Eventually found alive, and now with a new path forward.
One he would explore in the New Republic.
Service & The Colony
Having come into his new magic, Lothar worked hard to turn around his track at the Academy. He spent the last year until Graduation learning, understanding, and then flexing his new abilities.
First hiding them, the Initiate utilized his new stolen magics to eliminate the Students who had bullied him so furiously in years before. One by one, the young man began to eliminate them. Removing each of his former torturers and in turn stealing their magics. The first was felled through surprise, and the second was no different, though caught by a newly taken magic rather than a blade concealed within the sleeve.
Eventually the nature of his new magics could no longer be hidden, and one of the Proctors spotted an eye now embedded within Lothar's flesh.
The Initiate was almost immediately taken and examined, dozens of Proctors questioning and pressing him as to what he had done and how he'd acquired these magics. Within the span of a day, Lothar was sent from the Academy and to Vel Acan
There he was imprisoned for a short while. Placed within the Black Spire of Acan as those Dreadlords more learned began to study him. When it was found that Isbrand's magic had truly taken root within the boy, a debate broke out. Some wanting the young man kept in prison for his crimes, others arguing that his abilities made him far too valuable to simply throw away.
Ultimately, a bargain was offered to Lothar; Service in exchange for freedom.
He would be sent away on a special assignment, trained specifically for it, and only when it was done would the boy be allowed to return. Seeing it as his own option, and knowing that getting away from the Academy would only be a good thing, Lothar chose to accept.
For the next six months, Lothar's training changed. No longer was he a regular Initiate. Instead, he was taken under the tutelage of First Level Dreadlord Laurena Rell. This tutelage was exceptionally grueling, hearkening back to the old days with the Dreadlord often insisting that her outlandish punishments were simply 'making up' for all those that Lothar had missed when he was still weak.
When the time for Graduation came, Lothar did not take the same test as his fellow Initiates. Instead he was pitted against Laurena, and although he was very nearly killed, the young Initiate did manage to pass his own test in the end.
Graduating as a Third Level, though expected to rise very quickly, it was not long before the now fully fledged Dreadlord joined the others and set out for the Colony of Torrith.

The Colony of Torrith
Lothar, like everyone else, has been with the Colony of Torrith throughout the entire five year venture.
He has proven himself to be an exceptional Dreadlord, thriving outside of the ordinary Anirian environment and working alongside his peers with distinction. Lothar, like many of the other Dreadlords who have accompanied the far flung mission, can easily be said to be instrumental to the survival of the Colony.
Both on his own, as well as with the others Lothar has defended Torrith from a variety of threats. Enduring tribulation and trial without so much as a word of complaint, knowing that in a different world he would already have been dead.
This different environment, and the fact that he was now forced to be a working member of a team caused a significant change within Lothar's personality. He was no longer as withdrawn or closed off, smiled more, and generally for the first time fell into his 'place'. The dark brooding Lothar that many of the Initiate's back home knew is now gone, replaced with a confident, if not still stalwart young man.

Skills and Abilities
Innate Magic:
Lothar's innate magic is a simple 'trick' that most would have hardly dubbed magic at all. His powers, simply put, allow him to adapt to situations around him. A useful trait, admittedly, but made far less impressive by the time it takes Lothar's magic to adapt.
He cannot control his magics, nor can it be focused. The simple innate fact of his magics is it takes time. In the end his body will always adapt, but whether or not it can change quickly enough to stave off death is the true question. Useful for fighting a cold, but entirely wasted on a stab wound.
Due to his abilities, Lothar was all but ridiculed during his training, assured by those around him of a place as a Fourth Level Dreadlord.
Isbrands Magic:
Through means of his own highly adaptable magic, Lothar stole the eyes of former Archon Isbrand Lorel.
After his defeat at the hands of Sloan, the former Archon's body was a twisted and rotting doll. Stuck beneath the rubble of the broken Anir Square, it began to decay with all the others. There Lothar found it, a half ruined mangled mass of flesh.
Through some sickening call of his own magics, the Initiate took what remained of the corpses eyes and made them his own.
By this means Lothar now possesses the abilities of the former Archon. He is capable of taking the magics of others by stealing their eyes and implanting them in his own body. A method which though brutally painful, allows the young Initiate to 'store' another magic users abilities.
Once taken, the Eyes can be utilized in an extremely diverse way. Though an eyes own magic always draws from the pool it was taken. Already powerful, Lothar is however far from mastering the use of his new magics. As well as having experienced a myriad of side effects from the consequence of his unnatural power.
