Llewen Merrick is a young, impoverished Knight in charge of Castle Merrick in the Kingdom of Mardania.

Appearance

Llewen has chestnut hair and blue eyes, and isn't particularly athletic despite being a knight, as his training had only just begun when his father perished.

Skills and Abilities

Llewen has begun the basics of knightly combat, and can ride a horse into battle and use a sword and lance, although his skills are only those of a complete novice. He has some competency in financial fluency, commerce, and markets due to needing to learn how to run his estate on his own since he was 13. He can both read and write, although not at an advanced level, except when it comes to understanding ledgers and money.

Llewen owns a single brown Palfrey (a riding horse), a chain shirt, small lance, and the old arming sword and kite shield of his father, a shield which bears the crest of the white griffin.

Personality

Lacking much parental guidance, Llewen is timid, bashful, and lacks confidence, and generally many of the traits expected of someone of his station. He isn't particularly villainous, but he also hasn't had the opportunity to be particularly so. His only trait of real virtue is some compassion towards his subjects, who he frequently is lenient with rent towards (in a large part due to their impoverished estate), and a desire to improve both his subjects and his own station. Since turning 18 he has resolved himself to take a more active role in improving things for himself, and a small flame of ambition has been kindled in him by an unexpected friend who appeared in his life.

Biography & Lore

Llewen Merrick was born into a better estate than he inherited. His young father father, Gawain Merrick, was a lesser Knight of some renown but not much in the way of wealth or power. Gawain Merrick and his mother Gwendelain died in a tragic Orcish ambush near The Spine when Llewen was 13, leaving Llewen the sole owner of Castle Merrick and its subjects, as he had no other siblings since his sister Margred died of fever when they were younger. He has since ruled Castle Merrick alone, with the guidance of the peasants that technically serve him.

His crest is that of a white griffin with a green background, of which he usually represents by wearing a tabard over his mail with the crest depicted.
