Leovold Solherre
"Once, our forefathers built this house upon the peaks of glory; once, such was our radiance that none could look upon us and deny our greatness.
Where is our glory now, Lords of Solherre? It has abandoned us, while we have rested on our laurels."
Appearance
Tall, athletically built, and carrying himself with a proud and commanding presence, Leovold embodies the standard of greatness his house once held itself to. His eyes glow dimly with the energies of the hereditary magic granted to his ancestors long ago, and can flare to a burning radiance when his temper flares. Designs on his skin glow similarly, looking like tattoos etched into his skin; these, too, are proof of that same pact forged with the sun dragons long ago.
Skills and Abilities
- Commanding Presence: Like many in House Solherre, Leovold exudes authority and wields it with skill beyond his years, though sometimes his impetuous nature gets the better of him.
- Dragon Rider: Leovold has a solid understanding and practice of mounted combat on the back of his partner dragon, Iralux.
- Duelist: Leovold took up the greatsword from an early age, but he's also practiced with the longsword, javelin, lance, and flail.
- Sun magic: The hereditary magic of the Solherre bloodline. It is diminished, and mostly good for simply exuding light and warmth. Perhaps it will return with time and effort.
Personality
Headstrong, proud, fierce, loyal. Leovold carries himself as he believes a lord of the Solherre should: with confidence and an air of superiority. His house was meant to be the best, and he believes he should act like it. In spite of this, Leovold is intimately aware of his house's failings, and is resentful of that fact. His temper is quick and often fiery, and he has a habit of acting brashly and impulsively. More than anything, Leovold values strength and despises weakness.
Biography & Lore
Born the eldest son of House Solherre, Leovold was taught the glorious history of his noble bloodline from an early age. Tales of ancient conquerors past filled the annals of his family. Yet, early on, Leovold noticed the disparity between those tales and the reality around him. No longer did their dragons roam the sky in dominance, exuding their might with every movement. No longer did the lord of Solherre conquer and command fealty by his very presence. No longer did the great Dawnstone that marked the ancient pact that tied his bloodline to the sun dragons shine with the brilliance described in those books.
As Leovold grew, so did his resentment. He saw House Solherre for what it was: a shadow of its former self. From his youth, Leovold vowed to restore his house to its former glory - no matter the cost.

Iralux
The egg that would one day become Iralux was laid small, cold, and motionless. Among his brood, House Solherre believed that it would be the runt at best, and a stillbirth at worst. Lord Tyros thought to discard it as a waste of time and resources; as a child, Leovold thought better. He stole the egg away and spent months bathing it in the light of the Dawnstone and focusing his own solar magic on it. Leovold thought to prove what effort and strength of will and heart could do, rather than the complacency that plagued his father, and his father before him.
Iralux hatched some months later in a pillar of light and flame, with a vigor for life that exceeded all expectations. Lord Tyros tried to see the young dragon trained by House Solherre's greatest champions, perhaps desiring to make him his own, but from day one Iralux stubbornly defied all attempts at bringing him to heel. Except, of course, for the one who hatched him, who shared his very vitality with him. Iralux and Leovold were bonded immediately, and Leovold never relented in training with him.
Now Iralux sets a record as the largest sun dragon hatched to House Solherre in ten generations, though still only half the size of the broods of old. The dragon brims with a barely contained, furious zeal. He is a wrathful thing, and in Leovold's eyes, exactly the creature necessary to ignite a new ascension for House Solherre.
As a sun dragon, Iralux glows radiantly with the solar energy that courses through him. Though not the fastest of dragons, nor the toughest, sun dragons are living batteries of boundless energy. Their claws and teeth sear with terrible heat and light, and their bodies light the dark like glorious beacons. Sun dragons breathe focused beams of volatile plasma that few materials can hope to withstand.
