As the Mistress of High House Thalien, Lanna Thalien is the Highest Lady of Tarnossia, a kingdom of High Elves located in the Falwood to the northwest of Fal'Addas. Having recently ascended to her position in a time of strife throughout Arethil and with the constant threat of Vel Anir at their borders that has never gone away, Lanna Thalien has maneuvered quietly and subtly amongst the elven factions and kingdoms within the Falwood, and within Tarnossia itself, to ensure the survival of the Elves who have lived in the Falwood for millennia, so that they may live in their ancestral homelands for millennia more.

Appearance

The High Elves of Tarnossia are of the generic mold of elves in the Falwood, for they are lithe in stature, graceful of movement and regal in mannerisms. They come in all shapes and sizes, though different lines and families of course tend to have different features that set them apart from the other Elves. For those of House Thalien, this appears in the form of fair skin, silver hair and eyes that range from clear crystal to sky blue, and Lanna has those features down to a T. Those who have observed her closely note that her eyes often shine blue-white when she is wielding a great deal of magic.

For the Head of a noble familly that leads a kingdom of High Elves, Lánna shows a surprising amount of restraint in her accessories. Complementing the traditional robes that are the backbone of Tarnossian nobility are the occasional gems of clearest crystal woven into the fabric, in colours that complement her clothes. She prefers to wear robes in shades of white, silver and sky-blue, though she is also known to wear robes in the style of her elven heritage as well in private. The colours complement her eyes, which are often accentuated with hints of blue when she uses psionic magic. In recent times since she became the Highest Lady of Tarnossia, she has also taken to carrying about a katana strapped to her waist so that she can defend herself in extreme situations.

Skills and Abilities

All things considered, Lanna is first and foremost a noble and a politician, and has been trained as such in matters of governance. Polite as the situation demands, yet shrewd and calculating, she has straddled a the line of peace and war in Tarnossia against the threat of Vel Anir. Diplomacy, economics and military matters are all areas that she has at least a glancing familiarity with, though she leaves the fine details to the other High Houses of Tarnossia. It is in statesmanship and in the legal scholarship of Tarnossia that she finds herself best in, for High House Thalien, above all other nobles Houses in Tarnossia, has a strong judicial reputation. It is they, after all, who drafted the first accords of Tarnossia to create one of the longest surviving kingdoms of Elvenkind in memory against all the odds.

Besides the general elven traits of enhanced senses and agility, all High Elves of Tarnossia, from the highest noble to the meanest commoner, have cultivated some affinity for magic in the years since the Second Elven war against Vel Anir. In the House of Thalien, this manifests as a gift for mental magics, which ranges from telekinesis, telepathy, to Seeing. Lanna herself is most gifted in telepathy, able to read most minds with some effort and is especially talented at truthseeing, though she is no slouch in the uses of telekinesis as well from force waves to shields of pure mental energy.

Personality

Born and raised to be the heir to the noble House of Thalien and the next Mistress of Tarnossia, Lánna has always been steadfast in the concept of duty and responsibility. While other nobles in different civilizations might have the luxury to relax in their noble benefits and their Gods-given right to command the peasants and surfs of their territories, Thalien has always known that the strength of their House has and will always be dependent on the people and nobles who serve them. Lánna has also been raised knowing that Tarnossia's good fortunes over the past two thousand years were not simply of luck born from the Gods, as others would believe, but rather the result of incredibly hard work and investment made from her ancestors. And it is her duty to build on that legacy to pass down upon future descendants, something that she takes seriously above all else.

But Tarnossia's history has not been one of peace. Straddled between Fal'addas and Vel Anir, Tarnossia has been the buffer between the rest of the elven kingdoms and the human city, and over the thousand years of history between the two factions much of Tarnossia has been burned to the ground and rebuilt. In the face of such hostility and historical animosity, Lánna takes solace in the presence of her husband, and in the brief moments of peace and quiet in the early hours of the morning and late at night during her meditation sessions she regroups to face the days and weeks ahead, to hear of renewed poaching of human towns and villages on their borders, of economic sanctions being placed by various noble houses of Vel Anir against elven goods. It takes centuries’ worth of patience, enough to equal that of an elven Elder, to not crack under all the stress that is currently being placed on her shoulders.

Ladalia has trained Lánna well indeed.
