Appearance

Kong is an athletic youth with strong, somewhat harsh features - his hair is kept long, and tied back as to keep it out of his face. He is seen mostly in the same clothing, with a cross buttoned dark gray cuffed jacket, a gray waist belt and large gray pants with thin shoes, flexible shoes covering his feet.

His strong features are accentuated by his clouded, harsh expressions giving him an unfriendly or even confrontational air at first glance. While athletic he isn't heavily muscled, his body built more for springing explosive movement then raw force. His hands are unusually large for his body size, furthermore his hands are extremely worn and rough to the touch, feeling like sand paper or stone.

Overall Kong looks the part of a young warrior, full of anger but clearly trained well.

Skills and Abilities

Shen Hua Niu Da Quan - A style of unarmed martial arts taught to Kong by his Master Kong Jie Mu, Shen Hua Niu Da Quan is a 'mixed' style including external force, internal force, chin na (joint locks) and shuai (wrestling) techniques. Like most masters of the martial arts Kong Jie Mu was highly protective of his style, which had passed on to him by his master and so on for hundreds of years - the secrets of the art kept in a series of written manuals closely guarded. As the only disciple of Kong Jie Mu it was destined that Kong would inherit the art and it's deepest secrets. Unfortunately before he could fully master the art Master Kong Jie Mu was killed and the manuals stolen. While incomplete at the art Kong is still a highly skilled combatant, capable of fighting any common warrior with ease.

Unnamed Self Taught Martial Art - An art in it's infancy Kong has begun to tap into true mastery of his Kung Fu, without the guidance of a master or manuals to guide him he is slowly grasping abstract concepts, and forming them into techniques and principals - in effect creating his own martial art. Each life or death scenario stimulates his growth, each encounter with a master of their art gives him insight beyond himself. While it may be many decades for this art bears fruit without guidance he is still none the less slowly becoming a master.

Qing Pei Zhi - A unique 'cultivation' technique taught to Kong by his Master's murderer Qing Pei Zhi is a series of meditation and spiritual techniques used to harness, refine and understand Qi (Ki) and thus grow ones potential as a martial artist. The techniques vary but include simple concepts such as battling mental images of warriors one has encountered to more abstract concepts such as the balance of Qi in the body through acupuncture points and how to flow the Qi to stimulate growth. Unique to the Qing Pei Zhi is the ability to 'steal' Qi from deceased opponents, living things such as trees and animals and even ones own lifespan and to then take that Qi, refine it to adapt to one's own Qi channels and make use of it, allowing one to jump many levels of cultivation very quickly. Like all Qi or magic the cost can be severe, and improper refinement or too rapid a cultivation can have catastrophic effects including mutations, paralysis both temporary and permanent even death.

Qi - Thy martial concept of Qi is deep and varied by sect, teachings and cultivation method, but essentially represents ones internal energy and the process of harnessing it through specific points in the body to produce magical effects. Some Qi users can use techniques indistinguishable from mages such as spitting fireballs or raising the dead, while others simply strengthen their physical skills to become more powerful. Kong himself is a novice in Qi, his cultivation level high enough only to produce minor strengthening effects.

Personality

Kong is a quiet, angry youth with a short temper, a sharp tongue and little worldly experience. Raised by his Master on a remote part of the Isles of Sheketh Kong has little experience interacting with anyone but his master making him extremely awkward. The death of his Master has only deepened Kong's natural tendency toward anger, and he is almost single minded in his pursuit of his Master's killer. Even a mention of the man will set Kong off, willing to take incredible risks or fight anyone to get more information.

This reckless nature is further amplified by his sharp tongue, his insults often biting. This means most find him awful company and are quick to want to fight him, something he is happy to oblige. Kong's moral compass is slightly questionable, his willingness to kill others far too natural for anyone who could be truly considered 'good'.

However, he does have a code of honor; and while he has no qualms with killing he does not seem to revel in it or seek it. In truth Kong is a boy possessed with the spirit of vengeance, and it is unlikely that until he has it that he will ever return to how he was as a youth - friendly, kind and diligent.

Biography & Lore

How Kong and his Master came to meet is unknown, for as long as Kong remembers his Master was there. An elderly man when Kong was but a toddler the elder Kong Jie Mu was a well respected martial artist who had traveled Epressa and Liadain for many years seeking greater and greater challenges to grow his martial mastery. A true 'master' of Martial Arts and Qi Master Kong was well respected in the martial arts community, so when he one day took on a discipline who was but a toddler and vanished many were disappointed they would never be able to face the famed master in combat.

In truth he had fled to the Isle of Sheketh after he had dueled with a famed sword master and killed him in the process, aging and with a toddler to protect he had little desire to fight the entire sword masters sect and thus fled to the northern most point of the Isle of Skeketh, a remote location few would ever look for such a man.

It was here he raised young Kong, giving him his own name and vowing to pass down his martial arts secret techniques to the boy in hopes the ancient style would continue to live on. A simple living the pair experienced great happiness deep in the wilderness, living off the land and spending most days practicing martial arts.

On his 13th birthday Kong was instructed to go down to a small village some one hundred and fifty miles away and return with proof he had made the journey. A simple test of his disciple's ability to fend for himself Master Kong had know way to know it would be the last time the pair ever saw each other.

What exactly happened is not known to Kong, only that when he returned a man holding a sword and wearing a mask had killed his master and stood over his body. In a rage Kong attacked the man, and was quickly defeated - unwilling to accept the defeat he began to tap into his Qi reserves, planning to spend every bit of his life force in exchange for power.

To his surprise the sword master sealed his Qi channels response and threw a manual at his feet, containing a strange cultivation technique young Kong had never seen. His master's killer instructed him to come looking for him when he was an adult, and left the defeated boy alone to wallow in his grief.

Three years have passed since that moment, and with a description and a name Kong now seeks his master's killer for revenge, no matter the cost.
