The kitsune have their own language of howls, barks and clicks that also use body language but are smart enough to learn and mimic human speech. Though living in the
Falwood they also learned Elvish to lure both
species to seduce or eat them if food is low.
The half breeds are taught these
languages before they are allowed to leave the dens and
villages but struggle to learn the kitsune native tongue without the correct vocal parts.

A kitsune's true form is that of a tall, elegant, multi-tailed fox. They generally have 1 to 9 tails.
The higher the number of tails, the more uncommon such a kitsune becomes. While a kitsune can be born with any number of tails, it is known that the number can increase with age or wisdom, but not necessarily.
They also come in various different colours, usually solid or with countershading. Most commonly kitsune are born coloured red, orange or brown, uncommonly gray, creamy or black and very rarely as pure snow white and extraordinarily rare with a shiny, golden pelt. Kitsune tend to inherit their fur colur from their parents.
A purebred kitsune has multiple forms, their true is that of a fox, but they can also take on a half-fox half-humanoid form that merges their natural look with a desired humanoid shape.
When a kitsune shapeshifts, poisons and toxins or any substance that can cloud a kitsune's focus can muddy the shapeshift efficiency and ultimately prematurely end it. Spells also have the ability to banish a shapeshifted appearance.
Halfbreed kitsune however appear only in their half-fox shape, combing traits of both their parents, they also on average have a lesser amount of tails, usually half that of their fox parent.
They live in small clans, far from any signs of civilisation. Sometimes they form propper villages, especially when they have a high population of half-kitsune.
But often enough they live in magical groves, unblemished by tools of any form.
