Kenpachi Essa
Appearance
Kenpachi Essa. A half-elf by all rights. Essa is half Sand elf and half Nazrani. As such his physical appearance is a cross between these two. Umber colored skin, amber colored eyes with small pupils, sharp canines, slightly pointed ears and scarification marks along his cheek bones are his most distinguishing features on his body. They can be observed by those with keen eyes. More apparent is his dense body structure. Taking to his Nazrani heritage slightly more than Abtati, Essa is greatly more defined and built in muscle tone but also stands at a height of five foot seven inches and weighs hundred eighty pounds. He is short and reasonably so.
Skills and Abilities
- Warrior:
- One does not earn the social title of Kenpachi without first having a latent capacity for violence. Essa though quiet thoroughly enjoys combat and relishes in the face of conflict or opposition. Be it physical, spiritual, magical or mental. It matters little to him.
- Swordsman:
- Essa is known as a talented swordsman within various Abtati tribes. He is young, able and more importantly a willing learner with this skill. He takes what he can get and abuses what he can get away with. The sword in his eyes is like art and often inspires his oral stories.
- Cerebral Attunement:
- The mind is capable of many things. From your thoughts, senses to the world around you. All of it can be subtly changed if pushed enough. Essa has learned to attune his body, mind and his environment through such magics. To increase his stamina for long periods of time at the cost of his hearing or manipulation of a element after first recognition of ones own relation to it. As of yet Essa has only scratched the surface of such power and also its costs.
- Geomancy:
- Trained by his Abtati father. Essa uses Geomancy to his benefit when traversing Amol Kalit or any land. Often used to collect and bring fresh water deep under the earth to the surface. While no master his skills in this area are adept at most. Truth be told once the discovery of Cerebal attunement was made Essa halted use of Geomancy but that is not to say he will never use it again.
- Linguist:
- A gift from his mother. Essa has been taught how to quickly learn other languages or at least understand them. And being direct apart of trade with Abtati tribes greatly assists his learning as well. If Essa cannot understand a language he might be able to loosely translate it or learn it in time.
- Subterfuge:
- It is said there are three things a king fears. Illness, old age and Nazrani assassins. Now what do you get when you have a sneaky Nazrani mother and a Abtati father? A son that could one day become a shadow. Kenpach Essa is a sneak, a hunter and trapper.
Personality
Kenpachi Essa is...
- Cocky
- Essa knows his known abilities and limits rather well. This is why he always attempts to test them so that they my increase or change. This also means underestimating others on occasion and being insensitive in regards to how others may perceive or feel.
- Confident
- Doubt is a killer. One cannot conqueror his foe when his own mind is divided. Essa is confident in himself and does not strive to be anyone other than himself. He often expresses that he feels fulfilled knowing the core of who and what he is.
- Willing
- There are those who enable pride to halt their own progress. Kenpachi Essa does not have this. He is a willing mind, accepting and tolerant of other cultures and viewpoints if it benefits his own in the end. What he learns and collects is to his benefit, even his mistakes.
- Head Strong
- Disciplined and self determined. There be little motivation needed to drive this man to meet his goals. If you stand in his way, you will fail.
- Morbid
- A stoic. Death is not seen as a enemy but rather an old friend.
- Cunning
- When raised by hunters and desert raiders, honor is hardly a virtue held close to heart. Essa finds no shame is being unconventional or cowardly in order to bring him closer to victory or his goals. Nothing his beneath him to do.
- Superstitious
- Its ingrained in him. A gift from a Razrani mother that helped raise him. Omens, signs, and other such subtle things of this sort resonate with him.
- Tolerant of others
- Being slightly shunned and rejected by those he encounters due to his own mix of race has opened his mind to being tolerant of others.
- Distant
- What do you get when you have a Razrani mother and Abtati father? A child that learns to enjoy seclusion and is wary of those around him. Silence is golden and trust is not handed out freely. It must be earned.
Biography & Lore
My mother was a slave. Born on Aina o Ka La and her body has the scars to prove it. Cerak At'Thul the curse of the islands the Nazrani call home. She was moved from various sites in her childhood till eventually as a young woman she arrived at the Black Bay itself. She was feisty then and often proved too much to handle for various owners, fortunately her skills and education managed to keep her alive. Fate had always smiled on her. Kept close to home, albeit in darker regions. None the less it was still home.

Trade was always ludicrous across Arethil and this specific trade deal was no different. Twenty slaves total. Two groups of ten. Group one directed to be transferred to a location in Amol Kalit and the other group was to delivered to Molthal. The portal stones would cut the travel distance in half but there was still a journey to be made and a check point to be seen.
My mother was to be sentenced to Molthal and she never made it there. The check point was several miles away from the portal stone in Amol Kalit and the band of sand elves hired to guard the caravan group was ambushed by another tribe of their own kind. My mother was taken along with any other goods. This is how she met my father and eventually I was born. A half breed. Half Nazrani and half Abtati. Growing up among my own tribe was rough. Treated with a form of mild neglect as if I were a stray animal or unwelcome guest. I was taught how to survive in the wild by my father, how to barter and trade. My mother taught me finer arts. Education. To read and understand others better. My mother named me Essa and my father...well the name he gave me is tad name to pronounce for someone like you. But I'll give you my tribe nickname, Kenpachi.
