Julian was born on Kortes to a poor family and he worked on the docks and did other heavy lifting and dirty work from a young age to help pay for food and house and eventually medical care for his father. When he was eleven, his father succumbed to his illness- a mysterious malady that apparently could not be cured.

After his father's death, his mother changed- she grew distant and cold towards Julian. They were even more sorely pressed for money, but Julian's mother said she had found a job that earned her decent money. She was gone most nights, and it wasn't until Julian was fourteen that he realized just what sort of work his mother was doing.

Not long after, he was fired from his job working on the docks, and unable to find other work, he became a courtesan like his mother. He was in a separate courtesan house, a ways away from the brothel his mother worked in. He learned the art of seduction and charm for these two years he worked as a courtesan- he made a good amount of money doing it, and meant to buy transportation to get him and his mother out of the gutters, but his mother killed herself just before his sixteenth birthday.

So he left Kortes by himself and travelled as far away from his home city as he could. He had heard stories of the Knights of Anathaeum and decided to join in an attempt to live a better life.

He doesn't like to talk about his past and the most anyone knows about him is that he came from Kortes as an orphan. (his Cortosi accent is still present)
