Irene Savashal
Appearance and Equipment
* Long platinum blonde hair, blue eyes, fair skin, 5'6", lean and lightly muscular build.
* Usually clad in the dark, rugged, lightly armored garb of Gildan Regulators.
* Armed with twin seax-style swords.
Skills and Abilities
Praetor Anti-Magic: Gifted with anti-magic, Irene is capable of disruption, interrupting and preventing spellcasting on a single target and temporarily cancelling magical effects in a small area. This effect only lasts for a moment, but she is capable of repeatedly disrupting to keep a target or an area suppressed. However, more potent magics take a higher toll to disrupt, and thus will fatigue her much quicker than less potent magics. Also, since her ability is not so effective against multiple opponents or magic effects spread across a wide area, she can easily be overwhelmed.
The Whirlwind: Praetors of Gild are warrior statesmen and stateswomen, and as such they receive ample martial training. Irene is a prodigy of swordsmanship, naturally ambidextrous, and with such a gifted intuition for combat and font of energy for fighting that she has earned the apt nickname of "The Whirlwind" to describe her style, as she takes full advantage of dual wielding.
Regulator Training: Regulators of the Church of Jura are trained in various methods of identifying and combating the foulest magics, the supernatural and the occult, and monsters. Irene's knowledge in these areas is matched only by her burning hatred of the same.
Personality and Characteristics
Major
* Possessed of quite the intense and serious demeanor. Devoted completely to her religious convictions as a Jurist, and is utterly unshakeable in this regard. Maintains an especial hatred for "Jins," that is, creatures that are innately magical, and for heretics against the Right Ordering of Things.
* Not particularly outgoing, and can be curt even if she doesn't necessarily mean to be. Absorbed in her work as she is, she does easily open up to others who also hunt monsters and the like.
* Practical and realistic, she doesn't rely on hope, but rather action.
* Very lawful, and prefers to have matters settled as quickly as reasonably possible. Sincere, if perhaps outspokenly so; makes judgments quickly, and can be slow to alter them.
Minor
+ Wild about the scent of lavender. Soaps, oils, the flowers themselves, she loves it.
+ Likes plays in the Amphitheatre and dueling tournaments of all kinds, seeing much skill in both.
+ Attends every public execution she has time for.
+ Frequents massage parlors; has a quiet little belief that it keeps her loose and limber and in top fighting shape (while also being pleasurable, naturally).
+ Adores apple pie as a dessert, as it reminds her of home.
Biography and Lore
Irene Savashal had one hero ever since her earliest age: Saint Sofia Immal. That a simple shepherd girl, just like herself, could ascend to such noble and glorious heights, could become not only a hero to Gild but a Saint within Jura itself, filled her young heart with wonder. But dutifully did she tend to her family's farm, to flock of sheep and to the livestock, all her chores, and she saved these lofty dreams for the comfort of a sound sleep.
Then came the raiders.
Farms were always the first targets in probing raids throughout Campania. At the time Irene knew not from what nation the raiders hailed, but in the moment of their coming it mattered not. Yet it seemed that Regel himself intervened, for shortly after the raiders' arrival came from over the hill a Praetor leading his maniple of soldiers, and a battle over the Savashal farm was joined. During the course of the engagement, Irene found the true favor with which she had been bestowed: her own Praetor gifts were revealed. With the raiders in short order put to flight, her father and mother, her siblings, the leading Praetor were all in their own measures astonished by Irene's power, but none more so than Irene herself. Eclipsing this surprise was a supreme elation and reverence, for it seemed that her very prayers had been answered, and eager was she to come of age to accept enrollment into the War College.
At last the time came, and though the occasion of parting was sorrowful for all the Savashal family, such sadness was overmatched by the joy of what Irene, their daughter and their sister, was destined to become. Much honor would she bring to the Savashal name by earning the title of Praetor. And for Irene herself, it was a chance to walk in the very footsteps of the Saint who had inspired her.
To this very day, one would be hard pressed to find a more pious and devoted servant of Jura and warrior of Gild.
