Appearance

As an Eldari of the Stars, Illyria has the common appearance of her kin; pale blonde hair, pale blue eyes, and extremely fair skin that even under the darkest night, glows softly with ethereal luminance much like a star.

For this reason, her clothing is woven from Moon Spider Silk, allowing for a breathable, supple, yet strong material for lightweight protection and to dampen the glow. Trade with the Moonelves allows access to this clothing, allowing for an easier blending of her surroundings at night.

Her typical armament includes a bow and quiver full of arrows, with a small dirk. She would prefer to hunt for game from a distance than up close and personal.

Skills and Abilities

Illyria is blessed with the ability to use the stars as her primary source of magic. She is able to utilize the stars for energy at night, regardless if there is cloud cover or not. However, this is limited, as while the stars provide a source of power, it isn't to the degree that Moon Elves are blessed it when it is at its brightest.

Star elves maintain an extensive longevity, compared to their other brethren. They are capable of divination, almost akin to a farsight, allowing them to see flashes of the future. They are the most in tune with what is considered to be the original source of the Eldari creation. As such, Illyria is also capable of sensing otherworldly beings, be they shades or demons. Only a small percentage of Eldari are able to use this ability to summon demons, as such, they are able to summon these creatures as companions, with some even being capable of being gifted from parents to children.[2]

Their longevity, however, is countered by their delicate nature, as Illyria's body is easier to take damage, bruise, and even break bones at a higher rate than other subraces of elves. The majority of Star Elves, for this reason, do not encourage or participate in physical encounters and attempt to avoid them if possible.

Personality

Illyria is rather aloof, if curious. She is young in comparison to the other long-lived Star elves of her community. The young woman has not had any contact with any other species beyond the other five Eldari sub-races of Eldar Island. As such, she is unaware of what is going on in the world, as is the rest of the community save for the elder sages.

She has been warned her entire life to be wary of any outsiders, so she can be equally wary as curious about meeting anyone new. The elves of Eldari were warned to be extremely wary of Orcs, as their last interaction during the Age of Uroghosh knew them as conquerors and slavers.

The same could be said of any other elves beyond the borders of their island, having been told all of her life that they had lost their way and become a desperate, and terrible people, willing to call upon so-called dark magic to that would result in their downfall.

Biography & Lore

Long ago, Fal'Addas was one land, rich in magic and wonder. In the old times, there were only the six primal sources of magic. The Sun, The Moon, The Stars, The Earth, The Sky, and the Ocean. But during the Age of Uroghosh, desperation against the slavery of the Orcs led the Elves to discover new magic, the seventh source, Dark Magic.[3] It used the essence within magical creatures themselves to unleash dark power.

Horrified by what they saw, the Eldari put a stop to the madness. Using their combined strength, the last remnants of the Sun, Moon, Stars, Sky, Earth, and Ocean Elves summoned the primal sources to shift the tides, shake the earth, and split the land in two. The waters of the ocean flooded the plains, carving the landscape and creating the Gulf of Lost Souls.

And so the lands were divided into two. To the Northeast, lay the Fallwood, the large sprawl of forest that would remain in the wake of the lands being torn asunder. To the East, the Eldar Isles, now separated by miles of ocean, isolated from the elves that would twist magic and the Orc horde.

For thousands of years, we of the Eldari have lived apart from the rest of Arethil. We do this to ensure our ways are protected and so that they are not swayed by the temptation of ambition, desperation, or power. We stand apart, the People of the Stars, created from the primal sources of power as their true representation.

To the North, are the Sun Elves.

To the East, the Ocean Elves

To the South, the Earth Elves

To the West, the Star Elves

On the alps of Mount Sinai, the Sky Elves

And in the Moonshadow Forest, the Moonshadow Elves.
