Anyone that has spent any time at St Jerimimum's Abbey will likely have spent some time in the infirmary. There is always a steady stream of injured and ill people coming through the white rooms of healing, seeking aid for anything from a nasty graze from sparring, to mortal wounds from battle.

And, bustling through the controlled chaos, one can also spot the enigmatic character of Hilder. A stout, spirited woman, the nun is an excellent healer, who stands for no nonsense and has no quarrels with restraining particularly adventurous patients who should be getting bed rest.

Incredibly pious, Hilder is very disapproving of the adventurous Knights of the order that seem desperate to throw themselves into harm- despite the white lion's doctrines of peace and minimising suffering. However, she goes along with them because it would be much worse of her to let them suffer. So she heals, and is compassionate, and walks away muttering strings of disapproval under her breath- or out loud.

Whether people find Hilder's scorn endearing, funny, or annoying, nobody would ever dream of speaking ill of her. She is a character to both be healthily feared, and heartily respected.

Appearance

Hilder is a short, stout woman with high cheekbones and ruddy cheeks. She seems to always either be wearing a scornful frown or a massive smile.
She is always dressed in her nun's robes and a wimple- usually both white, but she has been known to vary the colour once in a while. She wears gold accessories that resemble the gold embellishments on the armour of the Esion Knights.

Skills and Abilities

Clerical healing: Hilder's ability to heal is strong and she can often fully heal people in a much shorter time than it would normally take. Her healing skills are also powerful enough to bring people back from the brink of death, when it would have been impossible for more typical healers. This healing is magical, but it comes from Hilder's faith and not from study, and she still needs to supplement it with more typical medical strategies like bandages and surgery.

Other Clerical magic: Her magical capabilities may also extend to other abilities. While the sole motivation for her magic is healing others, she has been known to use magic for other things in special circumstances, such as summoning a scalpel into her hand in a time-sensitive situation, or magically blocking hostile people from reaching an injured person. There is a joking rumour that travels around the Order of Esion that, if driven to it, Hilder could strike you down with lightning in a fit of rage. It is currently unknown how much basis this rumour has.

Religious and Medical knowledge: Hilder is notably intelligent, knowing lots about the physiology of many species from her experience as healer. As a devout nun, she also holds a vast library of knowledge about the history and teachings of the white lion.

Personality

Hilder is notably pious and stern. She is also spirited and strong-willed.
Despite this, anyone who has been in immense suffering in Hilder's infirmary has known the rare side of compassion and tenderness that she can express at the bedside during times of darkness.
Despite being quick to ire, people who know her know that her scorn for her allies is well placed, and nothing like the anger she holds for the truly injust.

Biography & Lore

Hilder had a very typical childhood. She was born to a family that was not wealthy but never went hungry. From a young age, she sought comfort in spirituality, despite not receiving particularly strong influences either way from her family. When she was a young teenager, she met one of the knights of the order of Esion, who taught her about the Abbey and its doings. She was quickly enamoured with the idea, and when she was 16 she went off to join the nuns of the order, where she quickly found a natural aptitude for medical care.

Throughout the years, Hilder served the abbey with unwavering faith, meeting the march of injustice with a strong fist and a kind heart. Her time in the infirmary put her through experiences of all facets of life, different deaths and adversaries, and joy and healing. She ranked up throughout her years, and became one of the senior nuns and the head of the infirmary in her late 20s. All of this experience has made her what she is now.
