Appearance

Haldi has droopy eyelids, overbite and a lush uni-brow. He cannot grow a full beard but refuses to cut the few whiskers he manages to grow, even though they are uneven at best. He has large pointy years, black hair and hairy legs and toes. He has a few tattoos on his face, three dots under his right eye and two under the left. On his forehead he has a customary tattoo of the cat eye, a religious symbol.

He likes to wear warm, earthy colors and lots of layers.

Skills and Abilities

Haldi, like all Busan Elves has retractable claws and great night vision, with the downside that during day time he has impaired vision and is very nearsighted. He hates his glasses and only wears them when he needs to read for longer periods of time. He is interested in history and has an excellent memory, so he excels in research. He is an alright mage, but makes up what he lacks in natural ability with feverish studying.

He is an alright salesman, maybe a little cheesy and awkward but he makes up it up with cunning and knowing how to pitch something.

Personality

He is a calm and likable enough person, with an easy smile and charms for days. Usually if someone dislikes him, is precisely because they see past his charismatic front and to his coldly calculating core. He is the sort of person who likes you enough to be of help and companionship to you, but if it causes him harm he would rather betray his friends.

He falls for the opposite sex easily and at first sight. He is possessive and bitter if his feelings aren’t reciprocated. But deep down all he wants is the pure kind of love, we all dream of. He has a sensitive side and all of his faults and misgivings are a front to protect that softness inside.

Haldi has a inflated sense of self due to being picked by the elders to bring back the cat god artifacts and saving the Busan Cat people. He is no narcissist though, just not the most moral and just person out there, he puts himself and his home island first over everyone else. He can be manipulating, but his problem is that he believes himself to be the good guy and keeps a front that he knows what he is doing and why (news flash; he doesn’t).

In his brooding moments alone, he questions if he truly has what it takes to help those in his home island or whether there has been a huge mix up and he is here to muck everything up.

Biography & Lore

The Bussan Elves and Cat people are named after their native island, they are both shorter species, of which the elves have been blessed with cat like features, such as improved night vision and retractable claws. Bussan elves are lean and strong, but you're unlikely to see a hardy elf of their kind. They are a peaceful species, with a strange affliction affecting their island's population, mainly the cat peoples. It is believed that his has been caused by the stolen or destroyed cat god artifacts on the island.

Haldi grew up in a small villa in the eastern island, his best friend was an adoptive brother of the Cat people. His father was an alcoholic and had great expectations and disdain for everyone around him. His mother an overbearing neurotic, who tried to make up for the bad temper and unlike-ability of his father.

After his adoptive brother fell ill and passed away, his father, filled with regret, became reclusive and stopped almost completely communicating, with his mother becoming even more protective and dependent on him, Haldi decided it was time for him to leave his home and explore the lands and the seas. After 20 busy years as a sailing merchant, Haldi’s mother passed and his father, now even more reclusive, became devoted to the cat gods, praying day and night, for what, who knows.

Because his past, Haldi is somewhat emotionally lost and has come to be quite selfish.
