Appearance

Hail is a human of medium build, long blonde hair, lean and muscled. Big eyes and lips. A long scar runs from his eye to his cheek– a training accident.

Skills and Abilities

Swordsman: His dreadlord training has made him an expert in swordsmanship. He is proficient with both longsword, shortsword, and spear. He always carries a shortsword with him, as well as daggers in his boot.

Bowman: Like all dreadlords, he is proficient with a bow, although his skill with a blade is greater. He does not usually carry a bow with him as it restricts his movements.

Shapeshift: He has the magical ability to shapeshift into any form he has seen, touched, or encountered. The closer, more personal experience he has with a person or object the better he can shapeshift into it. He can only hold the form for approximately 20 minutes perfectly before blemishes and flaws start to appear, and by 30 minutes he must change back. Hail must then rest for a time before using his shapeshifting powers again. If he overuses his shapeshifting, he risks being permanently stuck in that form forever.

Hail most often uses this power to assume the identity of another for purposes of infiltration and deception.

Biography & Lore

Like most dreadlords, Hail was kidnapped from his family at a young age once he showed magical promise. He was trained and schooled and beaten like all the other kids who had come before him. But he bled, and bled bad. One day, while training late into the night, he got stuck in his camouflage. He remained invisible until dawn, only the moon's light shining on him. The magical experience would rip the skin from his face cheek and permanently scar him. At 17, Hail graduated as a level 3 dreadlord.
Uncertain of which noble house to serve, Hail puts on a diplomatic face. He says and does all the right things that a young man of his position and level should do, but internally, he is divided. One yearning gnaws at Hail– the urge to return home.
Hail’s one desire is to find his true birth parents, to see them once more. He has little to go on– the smell of freshly peeled apples, the bark of a dog, a sky full of stars– clues from a life far removed. But unlike every other memory he has, at least these are uniquely his own. Hail will fulfill his duty as a dreadlord, but every other ounce of free time will be spent preparing for this homebound journey. His desire to find his parents is overwhelming– but do his parents want to find him?
