Born and raised in Arvalion, Gauwyn spent his life on the sea, eventually working up to becoming a trade ship captain in the vast Arvalion trade fleet. Unfortunately, while on a long voyage, his clan's raft-village foundered against a sandbar in a storm. Upon returning, he found himself Driftless, and chose to sail north upon hearing of new opportunities for land far away.
