Appearance

Gaage is muscular, with long red hair tied behind his head and light facial hair adorning his chin. His eyes are strikingly similar to the color of his hair, and his ears are pierced with silver studs. Having eschewed the uniform once provided him by the Academy, Eberwhit now prefers to dress as lightly as possible, preferring to wear a tight black vest over a white undershirt, with black trousers held on by a belt made to hold his knives and tools. Over this, he often wears a feather-collared coat he's taken a particular liking to since leaving Vel Anir. His body bears several battle scars, the most prominent being one down the center of his back. Eberwhit is never seen without his necklace, crafted from a chunk of iron he picked up on his first assignment.

Skills and Abilities

Gaage's specialty is the manipulation of organic matter in any way he sees fit; he can gather, disperse, merge, move, and destroy this material, but the scope and strength of this ability are oddly tied to Gaage's mood. When angry or aggressive, the power of his magic increases dramatically.

It's also important to note that 'Organic Matter' is not limited to flesh, blood, and bone. Though more taxing and difficult for Eberwhit, he can extend his influence to other organic materials such as plants, organic fabrics and materials, and whatever else holds life within it. In contrast to the usual increase in power that his anger gives him, the manipulation of non-flesh and blood organics is more effective when Eberwhit is calm.

Personality

Gaage is hot-tempered, foul-mouthed, and aggressive. During his youth, he was often the type to solve problems only with violence and had a reputation as a loose cannon amongst his peers. Despite this, he's matured incredibly over the last couple of years. While still sporting a vocabulary that would make a sailor blush with shame, and an undying love for a good fistfight, Gaage has become far more level-headed and thoughtful.

Perhaps replacing this short fuse is his intense feelings towards Ysobel. Eberwhit is extremely protective and passionate about his lover, sometimes to a fault. When any problem presents itself, the first thing Gaage considers is how it will affect 'Yoh'.

The same could also be said of his strong bond with fellow exile Zael Castomir. Finding common ground as Initiates over their mutual love of fighting and women, Zael was perhaps the only person Gaage has complete and total faith in. He considers Castomir to be his Brother, and is fiercely loyal to him.

Biography & Lore

Gaage Eberwhit, like many other Dreadlords-in-training, was taken from his parents in his youth shortly after displaying a hint of his magical potential; His uncle, who had always been decidedly rough and uncaring with him, was found dead with many of his organs lodged in his esophagus and mouth, as well as strewn out around him. The young Eberwhit openly and proudly admitted to this killing, even though he had no explanation for it except "He made me angry.".

Even in his earliest years at the Academy, Gaage's anger was seen as both a hindrance and a benefit. He would lose control and lash out extremely violently. While this wasn't desirable for discreetness and team efforts, his destructive ability was revered and praised as impeccable. Such wanton destruction was not so smiled upon after the Revolution, however...

Gaage was considered a particularly difficult student by the Proctors after the changes in policy, and this wass chiefly due to the strange 'quirk' that his use of magic had taken on. While his abilities progressed at a perfectly acceptable rate, his control of these abilities had not; the temperamental and neurotic Eberwhit was always prone to fits of anger and violence for the sake of fun, but once his powers took form and began to fully open up to the young man, the connection between his powers and his anger became all too clear.

While this sounds beneficial in some ways, it also created a great danger for Gaage and his fellow Initiates, often resulting in his magic spiraling out of his control, and causing considerable collateral damage. One instance of this left him clinging to life after his own internal organs began to be affected by his power, and he nearly tore himself to pieces. After recovering from this injury, Gaage's behavior began to mellow out, thanks in no small part to fellow initiates Ysobel, Delaney Lennox, and Zael Castomir, who all developed tightly-knit friendships with Eberwhit, and, in Lennox's case, an intimate relationship.

When it came time for Gaage to graduate, a group of Pre-Republic loyalist Proctors sabotaged the ceremony in an attempt to pit the Initiates against one another, and Gaage found himself torn between staying with the city or leaving to join the group of rebellious exiled led by the traitorous Archon Gilram. Influenced by Delaney's insistence, Gaage chose exile, leaving behind his close friend Zael, and a younger Initiate named Ysobel, who'd developed strong feelings for him.

This decision proved costly.

Shortly after leaving Vel Anir, Delaney grew fearful of her choice, as well as her own volatile powers, and left Gaage and the exiles in the dark of night. The only reason Eberwhit had for choosing to be exiled had vanished overnight and left his already unsure mind in shambles. Working for Gilram held little appeal to him, and he put little effort into the tasks assigned to him. It was an odd partnership with Chasmine, the ghost of an Initiate he'd served with prior, that he began to refocus.

Such focus stood little chance though, against the return of Ysobel. The young woman had matured in the year since Gaage had left, and when presented with an opportunity to find him, she seized it successfully. Initially, their reunion was one of anger, but once the two of them were alone together, emotions and words that had been held back for far too long began to flow, and what was supposed to be an arrest became a night in which Gaage and Ysobel conceived a child.

Ysobel herself soon fled Vel Anir to be with the father of her child, and Eberwhit took it upon himself to construct a home for his newfound family. With a civil war between his former home and a man he'd sworn allegiance to still raging, Gaage now finds himself far more concerned with his approaching fatherhood than any bloodshed.
