Personality
Esme is a no-nonsense kind of woman. If you make her mad, she will probably try to kill you. If you don't do what she says, she will probably try to kill you. Her transformation from merchant to pirate came with an attitude adjustment that many find unsettling and it does not help that she is a functioning alcoholic. Underneath it all, she is still the sweet girl that she once was and she still loves the water more than anything else in the world. People just usually don't get the chance to really know her before they piss her off somehow.
Biography & Lore
Esmerelda 'Esme' Tyndall was born in Alliria to merchants Cara and Leon Tyndall. She was their only child and grew up in and on the water. All Esme had ever dreamed of was having her own ship and sailing around the world. She would draw ships in her notebook and write about her make believe adventures.
As she grew older, she would go on more trading trips with her parents and she absolutely adored every single second of it. She learned every job on the ship and she spent years perfecting her craft. Her parents eventually started to pay Esme for her work and she squirreled all her money away to buy her own ship someday.
Her parents let her take the lead on the voyages more and more until they eventually sat her down to let her know that it was time for them to retire. She was eighteen at the time and she felt prepared to take over completely and run their routes without them.
It was only a year until she decided to sell their ship and buy a ship that was hers and hers alone. She also separated from her parents crew with generous retirements that would have them set until their deaths. She had realized that they would never fully respect her without mommy and daddy calling the shots. Once she had her crew, she christened her ship The Caraleon.
Esme resumed her parents trade route for another year before she started to get bored and grow envious of those with more gold. That is how Esme - the merchant - died and Esme - the pirate - was born.
For the last three years, she has sailed the world causing chaos and taking her share of the wealth by force. If she was not aboard The Caraleon, she could be found in a tavern with a drink in her hand. Her drinking and gambling led to great wins and great losses.
Most recently, she lost her ship in a high stakes card game so now she has to work for someone else while she finds a way to get her ship back.
