Ereven Theruvanen
A wandering elven swordsman with legendary skill and a tragic past
Appearance
Despite his past, Ereven still carries the noble appearance of his elven lineage, an almost timeless and fair look with fair brown hair, normally tied into braids or otherwise done up so as to not impede him in combat. His armor is surprisingly plain despite his vast material wealth, more functional than ornate, and his eyes are a very light blue. His ears are shorter than one might expect, but still quite pointed and identifying him as an Elf. He carries a magical ash recurve bow, short and potent, and a long, two-handed falchion, with two curved short swords on his right hip.
Skills and Abilities
--Blademaster: Perhaps one of the few to carry this esteemed title among even elves, in a duel his skill with the blade is unmatched by any except those of a similar level of skill. He has spent more time fighting with a blade than most mortals have been alive, and his graceful movements are efficient and deadly. His primary weapon is a long two-handed falchion, light and efficient for cutting down foes, but he also carries two short swords for stabbing gaps in armor or when such a weapon is impractical. All of his weapons are enchanted and have little issue cutting through unenchanted steel.
--Expert Archer: While not the greatest among elves, his skill with a bow is still greater than most mortals can hope to achieve and he has no issue hitting most targets with pinpoint accuracy at reasonable distances. He carries a strong, laminated ash recurve bow magically imbued to strike harder and have better armor penetration.
--Warrior's Sense: Lifetimes of combat have made reading his opponent's moves easy and instinctive, and his reflexes far surpass what most mortals are capable of.
--Mithril Plate Armor: Ereven has been around long enough and done enough that he is the owner of a rare armor, mithril plate, which is impervious to most weapons both magical and mundane. Like all armor, there are weak points, but barring a direct hit to his face (normally protected by a mithril barbute-style helmet), most weapon impacts hardly phase him, especially those made by slashing and piercing weapons. He camouflages this armor with dull colors so as to not draw attention to himself; at the very most, someone might think it was steel and not mithril, at least until the disguise gets damage in combat.
--Long time Adventurer: Hundreds of years of helping villages fend off monster attacks, raiding bandit camps, and plundering ancient crypts and tombs have left Ereven with an impressive stash of gold, equipment, and various pieces of kit for many situations. He often uses potions to heal his wounds and enhance his skills further, and has many magical accessories that complement his skills as a swordsman.

Personality
Most elves Ereven's age would be in their prime. Physically, this is true for Ereven, who is a confident, unmatched presence on the battlefield. Psychologically however, he is a deeply conflicted and broken individual. Long ago he once believed he was doing good by ridding the world of various evils alongside his brother, Taluei, but with his brother's death 100 years ago on his birthday and the excessive body count Ereven has achieved at this point, he no longer feels conviction for the actions he is taking. He still tries to do what's "right," but often cuts corners or doesn't take extra steps he used to. He spends a great deal of time writing poetry about his sorrows, and isolating himself for long periods of time--sometimes years even--to deal with the grief that still haunts him. These days, Ereven is usually cold and uncaring, but still does otherwise morally "good" actions solely out of dedication to his brother, though his heart has long given up on notions of nobility.
Biography & Lore
For most of his young life, Ereven travelled Alliria and much of the mortal world with his brother, Taluei. They protected the innocent and righted wrongs where they could, trying to make the world a better place; if your hometown has a high opinion of Elves, these two might be the reason why. However, in a small village called Water's End, they battled a group of bandits and Taluei was killed, and quite unceremoniously, catching a starving bandit's bow shot through the eye socket of his helm, dying instantly. In a fury, Ereven killed the rest of them, but then spent decades mourning his brother after returning him home. That home offered little comfort to him, however, and before long he found himself on the road once more, protecting innocents and destroying the many evils of Erethil, though the meaning of doing so was lost completely to him.
