A young, black-haired witch living alone in the Falwood.

Appearance

Elle is a tall, slender woman of around 5'10" with jet black hair and crystal blue eyes. She frequently does her long hair up in a variety of different, elaborate styles, often adorning it with blue, red, and violet flowers. She wears a simple robe most of the time, which she dyes with various natural materials found in the Falwood. She occasionally paints her skin with various "symbols" as well, using natural dyes.

Skills and Abilities

Potion Brewing: Elle is capable of brewing potions that heal wounds and cure diseases, among other magical effects.

Herbal Remedies: Elle also has knowledge of flora in the Falwood, some of which can be used to treat injuries without the use of magic.

Minor shapeshifting: Elle can shapeshift into small animals like crows, rabbits, rats, and so on, from dusk to dawn. At dawn she reverts back to her original shape, clothed the same as when she entered.

Minor Divine Magic: Elle calls upon a nameless patron she believes is of the moon; this relationship has never been made explicit to her and she hardly understands it herself. She can perform minor acts of healing and curses, although doing so usually exhausts her.

Conduit of the Moon: Like her mother before her, Elle is destined to eventually be swallowed up in a magical event when the Patron of the Moon decides her life force must be spent. In past events this usually results in natural disasters, including typhoons, severe thunderstorms and tornadoes, or even earthquakes. This also means if Elle's life is threatened, her Patron may intervene with intense, unpredictable magical effects. Her magic becomes easier to use and more powerful the more the larger the moon on a given night.

Personality

Elle takes her "duties" as a Witch with a grain of salt; she is playful, and loves to play tricks on commoners that come asking for aid, even if she eventually helps them (she does so under the excuse of "putting the fear of the Moon into them"). She often goes for days wandering alone in the Falwood, contemplating her position and trying to grow closer to her Patron, and practice her magic as well. When she does meet someone of equal or greater intelligence, she loves to engage in mental sparring, testing her conversational partner's intelligence and wit with quips and sharp criticisms. Getting her to be serious for even a moment is a difficult task, as she is apathetic to most matters of the rest of the world and only really cares only about her life in the Falwood.

Biography & Lore

Destiny, Signs, and Prophecy: these are the ink in which Elle's life is written. On a day to day basis she is as free as anyone else, but she harbors a terrible destiny: she is the Token of the Patron of the Moon, sometimes called the Lady of the Moon, or the Lady Luna, although the mysterious divinity's true nature is not understood by many, if any at all. Elle's family history is a series of unmarried women, who had one single daughter who inherited this cruel destiny. Elle is no exception, and when she was 15, her mother was chosen by the Lady Luna for sacrifice, as has been done so many times. Her consumption by the Lady of the Moon caused a great and terrible storm which rocked the Falwood, flooding many nearby towns and crop fields, and creating a few tornadoes in the process--the most noteworthy storm near Alliria in a generation. Elle knows this will eventually be her fate as well.

Since then, Elle has lived in her mother's small cottage in the Falwood, near the border with Alliria, helping common folk with menial problems as her mother has done before her. She brews potion, and creates herbal remedies that are invaluable to the communities she offers her services to. She has little need for gold, and often the entertainment value of pretending to be a more stereotypical witch is enough for her to offer her services freely.
