A large overweight man in his mid thirties Eadred looks every bit a common, if not well fed, villager. His portly presence would almost be jolly, if he wasn't holding a warhammer.

Appearance

Eadred stands tall, his above-average height matched by a significant weight that manifests predominantly in his midsection and face, giving him a rotund appearance. While his facial features are unremarkable, two scars on the right side of his face, tracing from his lip to his cheekbone, add character to his countenance. Most notable, however, is his prominent "double" chin.

His attire reflects practicality and a makeshift quality. He wears a padded brigandine over a simple tunic, with a cheap, undersized cuirass serving as belly armor to protect his midsection. A hooded quarter cloak drapes over his shoulders, while a fabric-covered chainmail coif shields his bald head.

Simple drawstring pants clothe his legs, accompanied by thigh armor and a codpiece for lower body protection. A plain leather belt cinches the upper and lower halves of his outfit together, adorned with various pouches, utility knives, and hooks to hold his weapons and equipment.

Skills and Abilities

Butcher - A butcher by trade, Eadred has dedicated years to the craft of slaughtering, dressing, and portioning animals. While he may not be considered elite in his profession, his skills are more than proficient. Through his extensive experience in dismembering, he has gained a notable level of anatomical knowledge, understanding how to manipulate joints, cut flesh, and exploit weak points with precision.

Brute - Large and heavy, Eadred lead a life of hard labor. Despite his rotund appearance, he conceals a considerable amount of muscle beneath his exterior, and he possesses the expertise to wield it effectively. A true bruiser, Eadred is a force to be reckoned with in close combat, effortlessly overpowering even better-trained adversaries through sheer physical prowess.

Fighter - Accustomed to wielding the cleaver and the axe in his trade, Eadred swiftly transitioned to his weapon of choice: a warhammer. Though lacking formal training, his extensive experience serves him well. Eadred relies on his weight, momentum, and underhanded tactics to gain the upper hand against most adversaries. However, when confronted with a truly skilled opponent, his limited endurance and inadequate grasp of footwork become glaring weaknesses, easily exploitable in battle.

Equipment

Warhammer - Weighing in at four pounds and measuring 44 inches in length. Crafted for a specific purpose, it strikes a balance between armor destruction and effectiveness against flesh. The solid head features small "claw" protrusions, designed not for deep piercing but for grappling and hooking heavily armored opponents. The downward-curving pick on the back serves a similar purpose, facilitating close-quarters combat.

Primarily intended for delivering blunt impact, the head boasts a large flat surface area, ideal for delivering devastating blows. Its wooden haft is complemented by a small counterweight at the bottom, enhancing balance and maneuverability. Not content with its original design, Eadred has made modifications over time, including the addition of a crude spike to the "pommel," likely intended for close combat and inflicting further damage a dirty brawl.

Personality

Eadred is characterized by his lack of education, crude demeanor, and penchant for indulgence. Born into poverty and raised in squalor, he has faced hardships throughout his life, which have left him lethargic and unmotivated. Comfort and convenience often dictate his decisions, leading him to seek the path of least resistance, even though it seldom proves easy in the end.

While Eadred is laden with vices, he possesses a modicum of virtue. Despite his flaws, he is not inherently cruel or sadistic. Given the choice between aiding or harming others, he typically leans towards assistance, provided the effort required and the reward remain equitable.

In truth, Eadred's existence is straightforward, devoid of deep contemplation or extensive worldly knowledge. He navigates life primarily through instinct, much like others in his circumstances. As a result, he finds himself entrenched in a lifestyle marked by criminality, gambling, and excessive consumption, rendering him a familiar yet forgettable presence to most.

Biography & Lore

Born in the relatively small town of Vel Lameus, Eadred's upbringing was shaped by the limitations of his parents, who, while honest, struggled to navigate life's challenges. Their personal difficulties inevitably influenced Eadred, leaving him undernourished and smaller than his peers during his youth. In a town renowned for its culinary delights, the pervasive poverty embittered him, fueling his resentment as he watched others indulge in the offerings of the various food stalls, outdoor restaurants, and inns.

By his twelfth birthday, Eadred had earned a reputation as a troublemaker—a brawler and a thief. It was widely anticipated that his life would spiral downwards as the leniency granted to childhood delinquency waned with the onset of his teenage years. However, an opportunity arose that would alter the trajectory of his life. By the age of fourteen, he found employment at a butcher and slaughterhouse situated on the town's outskirts—a necessary establishment in a locale so centered on food production, with its abundance of butchers, farmers, and ranchers.

As he matured, Eadred's physique filled out, transforming him into a tall, muscular youth by the time he reached fourteen. Thus, it came as no surprise that his initial role in the slaughterhouse involved delivering the fatal blows to cattle. With practiced ease, he swung the specialized axe, displaying neither hesitation nor revelry in his grim task—it was merely a job.

Over the years, he ascended the ranks, eventually becoming a promising butcher in Vel Lameus's largest shop by his mid-twenties. Though his muscles were concealed beneath layers of fat accrued over years of indulgence, the memory of his impoverished upbringing lingered, leaving its mark on his character.

Hedonistic and addicted to gambling, Eadred squandered much of his earnings on lavish meals and games of chance—pit fights, horse races, dice games, and the occasional card match, the latter of which held little appeal due to its technicality. Despite his addiction, he managed to stay afloat for years, occasionally experiencing substantial wins.

However, by the age of thirty-three, his compulsions caught up with him, leading to a violent altercation with debt collectors. Rather than sealing his fate, his display of aggression unexpectedly garnered attention, resulting in his recruitment as hired muscle to settle his debts. Thus, by day, he continued his trade as a butcher, while by night, he enforced others' will.

Yet, the allure of gambling persisted, exacerbating his financial woes until they became insurmountable. In a desperate bid to escape his mounting debts, Eadred resorted to theft, absconding with what little funds he could gather from both his employers and his illicit activities.

For two years, he has roamed the land as little more than a bandit, preying on lone travelers and poorly guarded caravans throughout the Anirian Territories, evading capture while peddling his ill-gotten gains to fences and foreign traders.

Each time he enters a new settlement, the siren call of gambling beckons him, leading him to fritter away whatever wealth he manages to amass, perpetuating the cycle of addiction and desperation.
