Appearance
On superficial level, there's hardly anything noteworthy about Dmitri's appearance. He keeps the attire he wore when he escaped the clutches of his father's mutinuous crew, stashed most of the time. The clothes are made of light fabric with some ornaments here and there, but clearly with more focus on keeping movement as unrestricted as possible. The pin on his chestpiece, along with his pirate hat are clear give-aways of his past affiliation though. Unfortunately keeping low means he has to give up the ability to wear his father's 'heirloom'.
Apart from that, he has strawblonde short hair, usually in a bit of a disarrayed state. The icy look in his green-grey'ish eyes, even when smiling or jovially laughing along, reflect his current state of mind. One not yet over the past, nor wanting to. His lips are easily curved in a light smile, more so to put others at ease and to keep a low profile, rather than genuinely smiling.
Once past that skindeep facade though, they find a lot of strife and hardships. A lot that a man his age shouldn't have had to suffer, especially noticeable when looking at his lean back. Rife with long scarring tissue, torn skin from the slashing whips of murderous pirates.

Magic skill: Warding (Proficiency: Novice)
Basically this magic skill is often described as a defensive discipline, one where the wielder can summon forth different kinds of visible shields in front of them. Effectively defending them against physical as well as magical offense, of the same caliber. If the attack is too strong, it will break through the shield and it will barely even make it lose momentum as it fizzles out.
The shields are visible to the naked eye and resemble a liquid puddle of translucent colors in front of the Warder. They are to be summoned by hand gestures and can be used in a variety of ways. But at Novice level, the initiate to Warding only realizes the defensive capabilities and will not come up with many ways to use it as an offensive tool.
At this proficiency the mage can only summon one shield at a time and can easily be broken through with any heavy attack instantly, or more slowly by rapidly striking it. Whether this is by magic or physical means is irrelevant, depending on the shield summoned.
The use and tools at the mage's disposal increases with experience and more insight.

Dmitri is often considered a fairly easy-going person, al though he can be a bit blunt in sharing his honest opinion. More often than not the people around him realize that what they see is what you get, he's not the type to talk behind people's back, but neither will he feign kindness to those who he feels aren't on the same wavelength.
He's usually quite the curious critter, often sticking his nose in where it doesn't belong and more often than not getting in trouble because of that.
Biography & Lore
Raised by his father, he looked up to his a lot during his upbringing. He lived a dangerous life, where every time they set sail and looked back, they knew there was no certainty they would ever come back alive. Betrayed by his crew after a botched siege on a merchant's cog, his father died protecting his son. Helping him escape to live a better life.
Now on his own, with nothing to his name but a small wooden chest with a dozen gems, rubies, sapphires, whatnots in it, he had to find his way in the world. Eventually he found out about the College of Elbion and decided to apply there. Now he could only hope for the best and see what happens next.
