Derenar
Summary
Once a benevolent priest of Elbion, devoted to the light and its promise of tranquility. Derenar has fallen to the twisted practices of blood magic and his newfound allegiance to the old gods. He took refuge in Cerak At'Thul after years spent as a vagrant, seeking the voices that assured him of the power he desired. Exiled and especially on the account of the crimes he was falsely accused of, he never fancied on finding redemption. He turned against his former beliefs, conceiving them as nothing more than lies set to put one's mind on a leash.
Without The Council's restrictive hold of his machinations, Derenar plans to amass a cult for his new masters while building a network for like-minded men and women, a place where the shunned practitioners of the dark arts can find a place to belong to.

Appearance
Years of devotion to the dark arts had since given adverse effects on Derenar's appearance. He looks twice his current age with his frame being thin and largely frail-looking. Once, he had long, blonde hair now succumbed to the corruption of the magic's grasps, making it look silvery-grey with dry and brittle textures all around. His face is now woven by wrinkles while his skin is all pale and unhealthy, almost looking lifeless. His eyebrows are thin and can almost fade from their appearance if not for his crinkled forehead which gives it a slight definition. Eyes are as dead as the one who wears them. His right pupil is partially coloured in a tint of crimson red.
A choice of garments is nothing short of dark cloaks and coats. Basically, it's anything that can obscure his outward appearance as his skin has become scarcely resistant to any light source. He often wears leather sandals wherever he goes, be it inside of his quarters or otherwise. Something noteworthy of Derenar's physical appearance apart from his partially crimson pupil is the six-eyed raven that follows him around, dangling or sitting on his shoulder. Many of those who see the creature had only speculated it as his pet, but for the curious eye, it's something more.

Skills and Abilities
As a sorcerer who practices the dark arts of blood magic, Derenar specializes in a multitude of curses that mainly weaken, siphon or even alter the very essence of life. Although adept in his variety of spells, there are many that he has yet to master. Rituals are common methods showcasing those that he did. More often than not, they are spells involving a sacrificial process which follows a pattern of embracing pain in order to gain something more, be it a source of power or something else. An example is offering one's life for the resurrection of the other. Another is giving away one's strength for the benefit of the other, etc.
At times, a specialization of blood magic allows Derenar to endure harsh conditions. For instance, offering up his blood for him to endure a cold and frigid journey or to even alleviate pain caused by an accident, etc. However, these spells will always ask for something in return, a toll paid for the attributes they grant. Most of these are temporary side effects such as fever, coughing or even fatigue. Long-term effects are rare but they are possible to occur, hence Derenar's appearance and wiry frame.
In addition to blood magic, Derenar's allegiance to the forsaken gods had granted him clairvoyance, although the power itself isn't at its full potential as it is merely an essence that allows him to utilize half of what it can do. This was granted to him for the purpose of communicating to beings absent from the physical realm and especially to the new masters he now serves.

Personality
Despite events in his life that would somehow drive him mad for vengeance, Derenar has remained resolute and surprisingly eager to achieve his newfound grail. However, he is anything but patient. His pursuit to build a society out of the darkness many had shunned prodded him to do things in the shortest possible time. He's also keen to details and is easily frustrated when his plans don't work out properly or even deviate at the slightest. He's grown to be a perfectionist and very much an elitist when it comes to the knowledge of magic.
A trait that he long sustained is his voice of conviction. He's quite skilled when it comes to persuading people, primarily convincing them to join his cause and the cult he's building for his new masters. Although he sounds a bit persistent at times, unlike his former self, there will still be some who will fall to his ploy.
Towards people, he's less likely to be considerate. He does not pay attention nor does he tolerate ideologies that aren't of his own. His eyes see only the equality of death among others. To him, everyone is the same regardless of the prejudice they bear. In terms of socializing, he's never too friendly nor too misanthropic. It's always done with a purpose, often for the benefit of the society he's building and for the underlings he's longing to have.
