Demir Ildren was born in the Anirian city of Vel Istrel.

Raised by parents who were both once loyal Soldiers, Demir's eventual fate in joining the Anirian Guard was all but decided from the day he was born. Though neither of his parents pushed him in a direction, the way they spoke of the battles they fought and the environment he was raised in ensured that his path was already chosen for him.

From a young age Demir idolized the Guard.

He thought of the military as a noble cause, something to aspire to and eventually reach out towards.

Of course this did not shape him into being the perfect soldiers, and in fact much to his parents dismay shaped him into a mixture of skill and mischief. Through the training of his parents Demir received an early training in almost anything, but this also grew him an unhealthy ego.

Confidence and charm were his trademarks early on, and from a young age it was clear he would make his mark wherever he would go. As a child he recruited other boys and girls to work with him, creating a strange sort of protection racket for merchants who didn't want to be pelted with eggs.

When this plan was eventually found out and he was punished for it, Demir took to other tactics.

Always he had another plan, something else to get away with. He did this not necessarily for profit, but simply for the fun of it. Enjoying the chase of skirting rules and getting away with whatever it was he was trying to do. An impulse that would follow him throughout his life, and would only be enhanced when the truth of his abilities were found out.

On his eighteenth birthday Demir followed his dreams and joined the Anirian Guard.

Here he quickly distinguished himself. Placing first within his class during training, and rising up through the ranks far more quickly than his peers. Upon graduation he joined the army of the North, and over the next half-decade was part of nearly a dozen battles and engagements.

It was during this time that Demir's secret was discovered, the magic which sat within his core and made him the exceptional secret that he would eventually become.

With his powers surfacing, Demir was quickly wrapped up in the secrets of the Guard. He was promoted once more to Lieutenant, and eventually inducted into the Anirian Knights. There he was granted his two blades; Mourning and Midnight.

Since then, Demir has proven himself an especially competent soldier.

During the Revolution he was responsible for the corralling of a number of House Guards and even a Dreadlord. Never questioning his orders, and fulfilling his duties. All while still bucking against the shroud of authority that reached over him.

Skills and Abilities

Though he did not know it for nearly twenty one years of his life, Demir is an Allomancer.

Allomancy is at it's core the control and magical affectation of all things metal. Although this ability is exceedingly rare, and difficult to ascertain early on, Allomancy has nevertheless been studied at both Elbion and the Academy in Vel Anir. Throughout the years, it had been discovered there are two main forms of this magic.

The first, and far more 'dominant' trait of this magic is the actual control of metals.

More powerful Allomancers are able to twist, chance, hurl, and effect metal in any sort that they will. Through a simple press of their mind they are capable of effecting metal in ways that an ordinary blacksmith could only dream of. This power could be used to devastating effect, and has risen to prominence in Vel Anir more than once. With the powerful Initiate Noel Schwarz currently being the most prominent user.

The other form of Allomancy is far more rare, and also difficult to discover.

Not a control, but instead an embrace of the magic the other form of Allomancy requires ingestion or inhalation of substances in order for the body to produce magical effect.

These effects depend on the metal, how much was consumed, and the way that it was consumed in the first place. Ingestion generally creates longer lasting, though more dulled effects. Inhalation of a dusted metal produces faster and stronger effects, but tending to last only minutes...if not seconds. This form of Allomancy can be incredibly dangerous, but also powerful.

The magic is also far more rare, or rather, it is far more infrequent that this power is discovered. Mostly due to the way that one discovers it in the first place.

It is this ability that Demir has been blessed with, and also the reason that he was never taken to the Academy. He holds not the first for of Allomancy, only the second, thus his abilities were never found until after he joined the Guard itself.

Metal Effects

Iron - Once snorted triples strength for an expanse of time. Eventually renders a dramatic drop off afterward and a feeling of utter lethargy.

Copper - Allows one to move far faster and react to things more quickly, with a dramatic drop off afterward and a feeling of complete exhaustion.

Steel - Increases the durability of skin. Though it can vary depending on how much was taken, it generally renders the skin immune to glancing blows of even the sharpest sword.

Silver - Enhances the senses. Touch, taste, hearing, eyesight all seems to improve to an almost painful degree depending on amount consumed. Usually grants migraine like headache a day or so after effects wear off.

Gold - Induces an amazing, if not sometimes overwhelming, hallucinogenic trip. The High can sometimes last for days and renders the user almost entirely out of scope. After wearing off generally leaves one dehydrated, achy, hungry, and extremely hungover.

Platinum - Almost painful to consume, Platinum renders visions of near future possibilities. After consumption, one can 'see' the possible paths of what can occur at any point within the next passing seconds. This can be incredibly confusing, disorienting, and panic inducing. With enough practice, it is possible to control this power but only over great trials. When the effects of platinum wear off, it almost always puts the user within a coma for several hours if not days due to the rebounding of the mind.

Aluminum - A fantastic and wonderful 'pick up', giving a massive boost of energy that replaces a night of sleep. When it's effects wear off, the body is rendered tired and exhausted, equivalent to not having slept for days on end.
