Appearance & Personality

Maho is a statuesque young lady, beautiful with the glow of youth yet embodied by such a spirit of maturity and competency. She has the fine delicate features of a noble, her face soft and round, her body lithe and slender, her fingers articulate and soft and her hair combed straight and shiny. She always smells of cherry blossoms and her kimono's and dresses are made of the finest silks and fabrics with no single harsh material to irritate her flawless pale skin.

She is strong willed and cunning, headstrong but compassionate. She rose to the top by her own strength and wit and she won't let anyone cheapen that for her. She holds family and honor in the highest regard second only to her loyalty to the Eastern Empire.

Skills and Abilities

Ambassador: She is educated in the art of politics, history of both her own Culture and much of the culture of Arethil.

Martial Artist & The Sword: She is trained in several forms of eastern self defense and combat, able to perform incredible feats of martial prowess, befitting the legends of the eastern warriors of her homeland. She is highly trained in the art of the sword, specifically the Jian.

Linguist: She is able to speak the common language of the people of Arethil, as well as many dialects from its various regions. She can also speak Elvish and Dwarvish. The eastern tongue is her native language.

Sorcerer Spellcasting: As a sorcerer she derives her powers from her ancestors, a long line of powerful sorcerers and magic users, and their accumulative power over thousands of generations of the Dao family reveal themselves in their unique and unbroken bloodline. The magic is summoned by her will from within her, using her own body as a focus to project her powers. A side effect of using her powers, her hair will turn pure white.
  • Magical Bloodline: The blood of her ancestors grants her immunity to non-magical poison.
  • Selective Resistance: She has the ability to choose what type of damage she can be resistant to, whether it's blades or slashing weapons, a particular element, or even blunted weapons. However, she can only have one resistance active at a time.
  • Blood of the Ancients: She has the ability to heal rapidly in comparison to a normal human. It takes a normal human a full week to recover from a minor cut, and takes her minutes to a full hour for the cut to be completely gone. Two hours for a deep wound.
  • Metamagic: She has the innovative ability to modify her spells to her needs, shaping them and changing them however she requires them, changing shape or direction, increasing or decreasing range or power.

Weaknesses

Germaphobia & Automysophobia: She is used to a clean and pristine environment. She washes her hands and always wears clean clothes. If she is required to have interaction with anybody or anything outside of her pristine environment she will wear gloves. She hates getting dirty and will avoid unclean or distasteful activities or passages at all costs. The odd thing is she seems to have no issue at all with blood.

Delusional Control: She is used to being in control of any situation, even when she isn't, and this is not unwarranted. She has always had protection, she has always had power, she has always been thorough and she has made very few mistakes in her life. Wresting control of her life from her family further bolstered her confidence.
The reality dawning on her will be a cruel awakening if such a time ever comes. The event will put her in a state of shock in which she will be unable to do anything while she tries to understand what is happening.

Sorcerer Spellcasting: Her spells are fueled from magic within her own body. While the pool of magic within her is considerable, that magic is essentially her life. When she uses magic it leaves her body, bringing with it her youth. When she exhausts her magical reserves she is, instead of her youthful age of age of 18, closer to the age of 36. As she rests her magic returns to her body and her youth is restored to her.
This scales with her as she grows older. Her magical power will increase, but so too will the cost. (Example: At age 22 she will be able to use more magic, but she will be 44 years of age by the time she has exhausted her magical reserves.)

Biography & Lore

Maho Dao was born the daughter of a powerful dignitary of the Eastern Empire.
Her early years were filled with training to be a political figure, an artist, an orator, a historian, linguist, a noble of the highest quality that will increase the reputation, political pull, power and standing of her family.
From the day she was able to understand and speak she was taught and trained, notions of honor and loyalty to her family and to the Eastern Empire were hammered into her skull till they stuck.
Sorcery is the hereditary trait of the Dao family, a blessing of their sorcerous ancestors of the past that kept the magic in their bloodline running pure.
Maho was no exception, and some would say she was especially blessed by the ancestors for the power she could control.

When she turned seventeen and had come of age she was in every way a proper lady.
Beautiful, dignified, talented, and cunning, an asset to her family and anyone she might be married off to.
But she had other plans for herself, she had no desire to be used as a family tool, no matter how beneficial it would be to her family, her fifty other siblings can do that even though all of them paled in comparison to her.

She used her prodigious mind to plot and scheme, used her wisdom, her cunning, her deception, and her position to pull strings behind the scenes, like pieces on a board. Since she is a woman she didn't have any real power without her family, but she manipulated them as well to unwittingly achieve her goals.

By the time she turned eighteen she had real power, a real position, and real pull. Her cunning and ability earned her the attention of the emperor himself, and he made her the ambassador of the Eastern Empire to the land of Arethil.
Which is exactly what she wanted, to get away from her homeland and see the world. She took a ship to the shores of Arethil and disembarked in the docks of a new land, a new city with new sights met here eyes, Alliria.
