Dalun comes from humble beginnings, a rare orphan of the dwarven clans with no clan to call his own he turned to the military. However, the horrors of war scarred him. He disappeared for one whole century.

When he returned, Dalun was changed forever. A jovial, yet also a deranged individual who has mastered the art of the stone. He can be difficult to understand and quick to anger.

Appearance

Dalun is a brick of a man. An older dwarf with years of wear and tear on his body, he is incredibly muscular thanks to his profession. His dark obsidian hair is kept back hanging past his shoulders, and his beard hangs wildly on his face. A scar that crosses over his left eye sits on his face, or where his left eye would be. The right eye is a dirty brown that often seems to be looking off into space.

His body is decorated in various dwarven runes and tattoos. He likes to show them off, so count yourself lucky if you see this man wearing a shirt. He always wears a sturdy pair of leather pants and boots. When he does wear a shirt it tends to be loose so it is only draped across him.

Skills and Abilities

  • Stonesinger: Dalun is one of the rare dwarves born with magic. He ignored his talent until his missing years. When he returned, he claimed himself a so-called Stonesinger. A forgotten order of Dwarven mages dedicated to stone and metal shaping.
  • Soldier: In his early years, Dalun was a soldier. He is proficient with an ax and shield. Combined with his strength. He makes the perfect member of a dwarven shield wall.
  • Craftsmen: He is competent in smithing, but he doesn't care about that. Dalun is one of the oldest and most skilled stonemasons in the Spine. He combines this with his stonesinging for truly incredible feats of engineering and art.

Personality

How to put this nicely...Dalun is insane...At least, most people think so. He often spends his time talking to himself or the objects around him. He does not like conversing with people, and when he does, his weird mannerisms quickly lead to conflicts. An eccentric individual, but no one can deny the man's genius. His pride and ego for his craft know no bounds. He would never turn down a challenge when it comes to his work.

Some might be surprised that if they can manage to hold a conversation with Dalun, and they don't immediately start a fight with him, he can be a pretty jovial and fun drinking partner. However, that requires patience, since his understanding of social cues and manners is essentially nonexistent.

Biography & Lore

Dalun was one of the rare dwarves that did not grow up in a clan. He was born in the small city of Vor Baldur to an unknown woman that had wandered into the city alone. Sadly, the woman died giving birth. Leaving Dalun alone. He was treated much like a community-shared child, he was given the clothes and food that none of the clan's wanted. However, he was taught a craft by city. He took a liking to stone masonry and was considered a bright talent. When he was finally old enough to leave, he joined the army to make a name for himself. He fought in several wars, like the Orc wars.

However, Dalun's time in the military scarred him. He served for maybe 20 years and then he disappeared. No one knew where he went, but many just considered him a deserter. That was until he arrived in Belgrath, nearly 20 years ago. He was a changed man, seemingly having sacrificed his insanity for skill. No one could deny his abilities, but his nature made it dangerous to allow him to work on any projects. He is often used by the city as a last resort craftsman when they can not figure out how to make something work.
