She was born into a rich family and was mostly kept away from normal elven society, the only socialization she had was with her tutor, who could be described as mentally unhinged. She had a cursious trait as a child, but that was eventually glazed over by a dread that the monotony of this life was eternal. She dropped off in her combat courses and in some other key studies, like history. Despite all this, she still loved her parents, especially her mother, who would bring in pieces of gossip and treats from the large city which Cylia ate up greedily.
One day tragically, her home burned down due to the Great Fire of Falwood, and so did her parents, her past life, and her ignorance of the outside world. She could have saved them if she listened more in her magic lessons or was more physically fit, and she knows it. She carries this grudge with her everyday, and vows to take control of her situation absolutely, so that nothing like this can never happen again.
Her curiousity erupted back into the foray as she took what little fortune was left and set out as a sword for hire, travelling around the world, looking to seize power.
