Iasoun was born in the Outer City of Alliria. His father was a blacksmith, and his mother was a maker of crude liquor and tavern-keeper. As a child, Iasoun was fascinated with both the Lessat moon and the 4 Alchemical Elements.

Rumor has it that a member of the Brotherhood of Lessat happened to stop in his mother's tavern on travel to another city. According to the rumor, Iasoun incedentally impressed the Brother by asking how Lessat and the Elements might be connected, and the Brother took him under his wing to become a brother himself.

Iasoun has never confirmed nor denied the previous rumor, but what is certain is that a boy who used to live a simple life in the Outer City is now a respected member of the Brotherhood of Lessat, living a pretty comfortable life thus far.
