Arumi Shacen
TO BE COMPLETED
Appearance
If most Avariel are considered 'angelic' by those unfamiliar with the species, then Arumi would likely be seen as a demonic counterpart. Lean bodied, with defined muscle but a drawn look that stems from months of travel and limited rations, the elvish man sports a pair of black feathered wings, ridged ivory ram horns that curl back from his temples, elongated canines, and finger nails which can extend into razor-edged claws in a moment's thought and retract back just as quickly.
While his wings are one of his greatest assets, they also carry his more worrisome weaknesses; entrapment of his wings, specifically pinning them, results in paralysis until released. His horns are also sensitive, and it causes great pain to have them pulled, tugged, or yanked.
His skin is pale and freckled, his face is fine featured with a sharp jaw line, a nose which has been broken more than once, and mismatched eyes; the left is violet, the right cerulean. A black goatee wraps under his chin, but otherwise he is well-shaven. His hair is a mass of blue-black loose curls that, when worn unadorned, cascades down to the small of his back, but is more often tied up in a messy bun.
Arumi normally wears loose travelling clothes including open-backed shirts which allow freedom of his wings, comfortable trousers with deep pockets, and laced leather boots with soft soles to allow for near-silent steps. A scabbard of plain leather is worn between his wings, containing the Yeti's Fang sword that he won in a contest held by the Royal Gladiator Fights Company.
While he tends to be of few words, when he does speak his voice is accented and slightly lilted, marking him as a foreigner in Arethil.

Skills and Abilities
Pyromancer of intermediate skill. Arumi trained for decades in the art of pyromancy, and became a Master of the Magic in his home Realm. However, the source of Magic was tied to the land, and the fire ebbed from his veins as he crossed the great waters away from the world he once knew. Cold and determined, upon arriving in Arethil he sought the magic of this new land and began learning how to manipulate this new, strange source. The early stages came quickly, but his learning has slowed as the more difficult parts of the magic begin to show their difference from his home world.
Arumi has never been especially physically strong, given his lithe build and light weight, but those traits favour his speed - he is quick on foot and in flight, and able to turn as quickly as dash.

Personality
The man is best described as withdrawn, but he holds fury just below the surface, and sorrow that is fathoms deep in his soul.
Biography & Lore
Arumi travelled for endless months to arrive in Arethil, coming across the sea from a land far in the east. A horrific end to a war in his homeland had the winged man flee, with nothing remaining to hold his heart to that land.
Born from the daughter of one of the greatest Shadow Mages of the Era, Arumi’s father was a demi-god and the ruler of a small southern kingdom, making Arumi (as firstborn) the heir. However, it was a crown he never wore. Their family, including his two younger sisters, was broken from the beginning. His father turned to drink and when Arumi’s mother learned of her husband’s infidelity, she murdered him for it. A family curse of resurrection was not enough to bring them back together even as he walked the land again, and Arumi grew to loathe his father for abandoning the family.
As he grew in body and independence, Arumi left the comfort of home to seek his own path. It was during that time away that a landslide destroyed their cottage in the mountain foothills and crushed his mother and sisters, leaving him essentially orphaned in his early teen years – he refused to seek his father. He fled to the nearest city, where he slept on the streets and fought for scraps, narrowly avoided slavery, and became meaner and more cynical with each passing year.
It was in that dark city, starving and desperate, that his future Master found him. She was seeking a fight, simply for her amusement, and their cat-and-mouse game as the boy raced for his life resulted in him nearly dying with multiple broken bones and a punctured lung. The fact that he lived was what endeared him to the twisted woman; and so she took him in, provided him with meals and clothing and housing, and trained him to fight and defend, and also taught him to manage his inherent skill for pyromancy. In time, she also taught him to love.
His Master was not without ulterior motives, though, as she eventually built an army of youngsters who were eager for her training and favour. After years of planning, Hysterie began a war on the city, intent to become its ruler, with Arumi at her side. He was her spy, her prime assassin, and her consort. The battles raged for years, with gains coming incrementally, and a promise from their early years came to fruition as the war spread to the neighbouring kingdom – Arumi would claim his inheritance.
The claim failed though. The war ended abruptly, and the result was devastating. Not only did Arumi lose all chance at his crown as he was cast out by the peoples of the kingdom, but he also witnessed the slaughter of his love, his Master, Hysterie. His resolve crumbled, his purpose gone, as her life bled out before his eyes, and he fled without ever looking back.
