Arturo was born to a wealthy merchant family, one of self-made nobility. While they have dealings in all manner of trade, they predominantly handle animals, supplies for their care, and support trade and auction houses centered around them, from sheep, to cattle, to horses, to more exotic pets and beyond.
Although his family keeps a large menagerie and runs both a racetrack and an arena, Arturo isn't so taken with the charms of domestic life. Although expected to become a well-known matador like his father, he cut his arena days short in favor of a life on the road. He's weathered the ups and downs of adventuring and monster hunting for a few years now.
Appearance
Arturo Diaz de la Frontera is a young man with sharp but weathered features, often appearing much older than he really is. He has tanned skin and wavey brown hair that glints red in the sunlight. He usually keeps it short but has been known to let it grow out into a ponytail. He is what some might consider handsome and others might consider harsh and weathered, especially when he hasn't had a chance to shave and due to an old scar stretching from the corner of his right eye to just past his chin.
He is tall and carries himself with the bearing of a man of great responsibility and martial prowess, though his clothing generally supports his adventurer's spirit rather than his noble birth. Arturo is a man how likes to stay prepared, but who also has gotten used to living off the lands and with only the gear on his back or his horse's saddle bags. He's most comfortable in leathers and light armor and generally favors a spear and shield along with a bow. His gear has quite a few pouches and trinkets attached.
When visiting his family's estate and tending to other official Diaz de la Frontera functions, he does clean up impressively well, though his mannerisms don't generally back that up. Personality
Arturo is a very blunt person. He doesn't believe in sugar coating anything. But nor does he believe in lying about things either. He has a decent code of honor, especially for one born of noble blood and raised to believe that they could own anything and everything and were entitled to all of it. While he admits that might have been how he behaved in his youth, spending time adventuring and meeting and making new friends has tempered him into a very effective weapon and almost adjusted individual.
He can be a bit reckless, but he's not typically a rash person, though he is a quick thinker and has been known to make stupid, sometimes dangerous decisions in the heat of the moment, but thankfully tends to be very lucky. At least in that he's still alive after years of fighting beasts and monsters in the arena and in the wilds. After years of experience, he is still learning and likes to keep a sketchbook with notes about his encounters with different beasts and other hunters. He's a ready for anything sort who dislikes cleaning up nicely for family events, and is just as apt to calm a beast with their favorite snack or some music as he is to fight them. Not that he enjoys tarnishing his image as a fierce and capable fighter with the image of him playing guitar to restless leshy. He'd rather keep such rumors to just rumors.
As much as his gruff and sometimes stoic mannerism make it easy to find him unlikable, he has quite a dedicated crew of hunters that he considers his found family. He would do anything for them and most of the time, they would do anything for him. With strangers, however, he can be very dismissive and a bit cold, especially if he deems them in his way. Arturo is not one to shy away from work, whether it be something grand (aka dangerous) and well-paying to something much smaller and more about trading a favor. He can be a bit manipulative to ensure that whatever effort his team puts in, they get something out of it, ensuring they are taken care of.
He is against organized religions, but does have his own beliefs that he pursues quietly.
