Arkarnianna was born in Elbion to two of the teachers in the college. She accidentally killed her parents by absorbing all the magic out of them. The college took her in and secretly experimented on her. They used magic to rewrite her memory so much she lost her identity. They turned her abilities up so high that she had to consume magic from others just to survive. They became concerned when they realized that she now would absorb any spell cast against her, though it cost her great pain to absorb. But since she was absolutely loyal to The College she was seen a useful tool to the college. Unable to keep her as she was a threat they sent her to hunt down rogue mages, specifically those who practiced the dark arts. Arkarnianna herself knows very little of her past. The little she does know is that she was born in Elbion, taken in by the college, and they gave her her abilities. She is now hunting down the evil mages, even if it hurts... a lot.

Every now and again The College sees fit to bring her in and reprogram her. They do this through torturing her through her ability. They destroy her mentally so they can remake her as they see fit. Unfortunately she always seems to learn from her experiences away from them and forms bits of her own personality, so they need to do it all again.
