(That's a link to my drawing just in case it does not appear correctly)

Aria appears as a very clean young lady--er.. mermaid. She, having a small build, does not have much muscle and has scars on her legs when she becomes human. The scars are also present on her tail, however are much harder to see as her scales distract. Although her hair appears thick and unruly, she is sure to always keep it brushed--especially when it's dry. She does her best to upkeep herself with what limited resources she has, and only ever pulls her hair up if she is out of the water.

Little details:
Her scales of her tail are iridescent, and can change from blue to blue green to purple based on the lighting. Ivory skin and sky blue eyes, along with thick locks of deep blue hair that crimp and curl up when dry. She always wears her necklace made of a jellyfish tentacle and a single pearl, for no reason in particular.
Outside of the water, and after drying, she goes into her human form. Her hair lightens into a lighter blue, and curls up more, resulting in her hair appearing about a half and 1/3rd the length of what it is in this image.
(This image is one I drew myself).

Skills and Abilities

She has the abilities of most mermaids, however there are some that she is not aware that she has.
She has the ability to sing, and attract lonely men to her location, and in the process lure them to their death (Shes never used this before, though). Her natural aura draws attention to her and her beauty, which makes it difficult for her to avoid suspicion. She has the ability to go into a human form, however will revert back when wet by a reasonable amount of natural water(a rain drop wont do it.) She can also go into something called 'withdrawal', when she is without contact with water for too long. Ocean water is best when this happens, however any water available at that time will do in this emergency.

Personality

Oh, Aria. So unbelievably shy. She hasn't had much contact with people, or anyone in general that she remembers and is very socially awkward. The only conversations she has had have been with the ocean animals, and they don't often have much to say. She lives a lonely life. She has a terrible fear of humans because of the fishermen that have hunted her before, due to the fortune that mermaid scales bring. She believes that humans are obsessed with greed. She is oblivious to lots of things in the world, and never learned how to walk on human legs, because it was too hard for her to do alone. She prefers to be alone rather than trust a human wrongly anyway. She is very hesitant when first meeting anyone, but is very quick to make a judge of character and will ironically trust strangers a bit too easily if they do not appear greedy or violent.

Biography & Lore

Aria's father was a human and her mother a mermaid. Humans had just began to turn hostile towards merpeople because of the allure of wealth, and the knowledge the humans had of their abilities to lure others to their deaths. Merpeople had began to return hostility in hopes to prevent any more of their kind from being fished and killed for their scales and artifacts. This couple hid away and interacted in secret, away from their races to avoid being labeled as a traitor. Aria's mother did not want Aria at the time she was known to be pregnant, and when she was born her mother and human father tossed her into the sea to rid evidence of their relationship. She was found by an old mermaid and raised. There was a period of peace between the races for about 10 years, but then history repeated itself. Aria saw a bunch of merpeople gathered above the water and went up to the shore to take a look. She was caught up in a battle of sorts; I wouldn't call it a war. In the process, many merpeople perished and when they discovered Aria was there, they hid her on land so that she would not be harmed. She went through a panic attack while she was hiding and ended up passing out.
She remembers none of that, and the latest she remembers is waking up on the sand (with legs) and being very lost and confused. She does have triggers that cause her to remember flashes of things that happened before she passed out, however she has no permanent recollection, and the panic attacks still happen when she is confronted with the feeling of immense fear.
She met a man on the shore who covered her up with one of his old blankets and gave her some food, but was unable to stay and take care of her. She turned to the ocean as it drew her in, and she returned to the ocean, a bit surprised about the tail but it felt so natural to swim and live in the water that she assumed that was where she belonged. And now it is about 7 years later, where her life really begins.
