Amar
Born as the first son of Emir Soleiman of Salitra Amar lived a mixed life of privilege and responsibility.
From a young age his Tyrant of a father made it clear the expectations upon him were great. The purpose of his life was to one day rule over the city of Salitra, and perhaps even cities beyond. It was impressed upon him day after day, and his father ensured that he had the proper training and practice to achieve this goal.
Unlike his sister Nym, Amar was not hidden away.
Instead he was very publicly shown in his role as heir. Dozens of tutors were urged to train him in a dozen different subjects. He was trained in the Salitran way of fighting, and the Emir even acquired several foreign slaves to teach the young man about other parts of the world.
Amar's life was a gilded prison of expectation. Though he never wanted for much, from a young age he was taught and told what to do at a near constant basis. Failure was never an option, and even the slightest misstep in any of his studies was punished harshly.
Despite this Amar never complained, holding himself to the rigorous expectations and ultimately believing it would be what was best for his family and his people.
This all came to change when Gerra and his Empire came.
With the death of his father and the fall of Salitra things changed rapidly for the young heir. When the family was taken hostage by the Empire Amar was not among them. Under a plot devised by his parents should anything of the sort ever occur, Amar was secreted away by his mother, replaced by a body double that had been often used when things were rumored to be dangerous for the young heir. Amar was quietly smuggled out into the desert, taken away by some of his fathers most loyal Guards.
These men, though well equipped, were eventually fallen upon and slaughtered by a Nomad Tribe named the Nahssai. Amar was one of the few survivors, taken as a slave and wrapped in chains.
Though the intent was to sell him either to the Empire or another Nomad clan, Amar managed to catch the attention of one of Tribes leaders. Showing quick wit, interest, and a keen sense of survival, the young man ingratiated himself as a friend within the tribe.
Eventually his chains were cast off, and the tribe willingly took him into their ranks.
Amar spent the next few months completely ingrained within the tribe. He learned how they fought, how to survive within the desert, and most importantly; what they believed in. It was within this that Amar found something new, a path that might lead him back to his family and what was his to take.
After nearly a year with the tribe, and newly marked, Amar departed from the desert and began to make his way back to civilization. His path set upon reclaiming his rightful place.
Magic
In his time in the desert Amar learned more than just how to survive.
The magic of the Nahssai revolves around the worship of a massive snake like deity called Nahss. She is a great and fierce being, who is said to make her home beneath the deepest depths of the desert sands. She answers the calls of those who pray to her, changing her aspirants to help them better survive.
For Amar these changes are subtle. The whites of his eyes expanded until his pupils could barely be seen. His body seems more flexible and movements more liquid. Though these effects are more subtle, the magics granted by Nahss have also granted Amar a connection to her children.
Decorating the young mans torso, wrapping from around his hips and over his back is a large tattoo of a winding cobra, usually hidden by his clothes.
